I don’t get why the USA even tried to get this event. Soccer is popular with kids but it’s not a hugely popular spectator sport here as it is in other countries. Of course, as it’s going now, our demographics will have changed dramatically in 20 years, but they can try again later when it’s more appropriate to the US population.

And that's the very reason Holder and Obama wanted this event.

They likely want to encourage soccer here to get the US playing other countries to get the attention off the NFL and baseball which are played mostly amongst US teams.

And we had the Cup in 1994 in the USA.

And Russia never had it.

And and Arab country never had it.

And was Obama serious when he thought Chicago could beat balmy Rio for the Olympics?
