When Mark Kirk is sworn in this afternoon, the U.S. Senate will once again have no African-Americans.
Since Reconstruction, there have only been four black senators. Three of them -- Carol Moseley Braun, Barack Obama and Roland Burris -- have held the seat that Kirk is about to occupy.
For reasons that go back more than a century, all the way to the First Great Migration from the South, Illinois has led the nation in black political empowerment. Weve elected more black statewide officials than anyone else. We produced the first black president. And it was a matter of pride among many Illinoisans that we kept the Senate integrated. In 2004, we picked such a great black senator that he went on to integrate the presidency.

Reminds me of the song “Guilty of Being White” by a 80s’ punk band Minor Threat.
So why not whine over the seat now being occupied by that cracker John F. Kerry which used to belong to an African-American long before Carol Mostly Fraud moved into the Illinois seat won by Mark Kirk?
They are really American Africans, but for some reason they frown on being called that.
“...Carol Moseley Braun, Barack Obama and Roland Burris...”
Don’t know about Roland, but the other two are sure sleazebag cheats that could get nowhere without voter crime, and money laundering (felons, even, if our justice system had a chance of ever working again...)
If you want blacks in there with honor and integrity, try Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, and just about every black I’ve known.
Carol and Barack can stuff it up their smelly Obamas.
Sen. Edward Brooks R-MA is strangely not mentioned in the article. Hmmmmmmm.
He keeps naming black politicians who are scandal plagued crooks implying all black politicians should be allowed to steal with both hands.
There is a new standard for excellence in service by members of our race. The human race, that is.
Allen West.
I hope that, in 2012, Dan Seals, State Sen. Terry Link, and State Sen. Susan Garrett will run, in the 10th District. If all of them run, that will cause disunity, among Democrats.
They traded one democrat for another.
Not really worth mentioning, since his record was slightly right of Kennedy’s.
About 2/3 of Blacks, I know, dislike being called African-Americans. They know that, since a dictionary definition of African is a resident of Africa, an African-American is anyone who was born in Africa, immigrated to the U.S., and became an American citizen. This definition includes a few races, so whether someone is an African-American cant be determined by his or her skin color.
So I’m sure this writer will be supporting Michael Williams when he runs for Senate from Texas in 2012.
sounds racist to me....
I said American African, big difference.
I guarantee he'll run again, he is so self absorbed that he doesn't care that it will cost the dems the seat so I say "Run Dan Run", "Run Dan Run"!
I knew that you said American African. I was agreeing with you.
What would be their response if Obama replaced Clarence Thomas with a white communist?
“Oh, no!! The Supreme Court is re-segregated! Oh, woe is us.”
Of sourse, that’s nonsense. The issue is really not about race, it’s about the goals of socialism and of the destruction of the United States and our way of life. This is just a hit piece on a RINO. If they can’t take him down in the short term, maybe they can shame him into agreeing with Obama’s complete and total agenda: OTHERWISE THE IMPLICATION IS HE IS A RACIST.
“RACISM, RACISM, RACISM, RACISM, RACISM, RACISM, RACISM, RACISM, RACISM” See a theme here? IT WILL BE USED OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN IN THE COMING MONTHS.
Hurray for the cracker.
If Alex Giannilouias had been elected they wouldn’t have played the race card, even though he’s also a white guy. Only Republicans can be racist.
YEah, I wouldn’t worry about that one seat. If Burris was the only afro, then it wasn’t “integrated” before he left office and it didn’t suddenly become “segregated” now.
