Sorry, but I doubt this. I don't doubt inquiries were made, but I sincerely doubt anyone at any hospital answered those inquiries.
Why do I doubt this? Because I know how hospitals work and how the HIPAA law works. The very first thing the hospital would do in response to an inquiry is establish whether the inquirer had any right to the information. If the answer is "no," they won't even look for the information. And if a hospital did have information, if they release it without authorization it would make them liable to a large fine and even imprisonment.
