WASHINGTON - A Maryland state delegate is preparing to file a civil injunction against Montgomery College for allowing illegal immigrants to attend the school, 630 WMAL News has learned.
"According to the statistics we have, we think it could be as much as $10 million in taxpayer subsidies being used for in-state tuition illegally," said Delegate Pat McDonough, a Republican representing Baltimore and Harford counties.
McDonough called for a criminal investigation into the public institution last month. While some other public universities in the area allow illegal immigrants as students, Montgomery College is one of the few to afford them with low in-state tuition rates.
The blame falls on the college and County Executive Ike Leggett for allowing illegal aliens not only to attend the school, but to pay the same costs as legal in-state students, McDonough told WMAL. He added that the injunction will be filed "in the very near future."
"They've all pleaded guilty," he said. "What they don't understand is, you're entitled to your own opinion, but you're not entitled to your own law. So we plan to go to the state prosecutor and the federal prosecutor because it's a violation of both federal and state law."
Some Montgomery County residents are already planning to join the lawsuit, McDonough said. He called Montgomery College the "tip of the iceburg," and says he suspects illegals are being offered similar deals at other public institutions of higher learning in the state.
"The money has already been spent," he said. "The taxpayer's money has already been used under unlawful conditions. Somebody has to be responsible for that."
Must keep working on getting out of this state before it Californias on me.
Monkey County has a bigger deficit than the entire state of Montana.
Outstanding. Someone with some guts.
Where is Alan Simpson? I guess he thinks illegals are not the “greediest generation.” Just American seniors who paid into Soc Security.
This is happening in every state, stay and fight it in yours.
Others are fighting this in their states.
Running from the liberal agenda will only make it stronger
Don’t get your hopes up. Remember, this is Maryland. Just because it’s illegal and expensive, doesn’t mean anybody is going to do anything about it.
"Some Montgomery County residents are already planning to join the lawsuit," McDonough said.
I'm sending McDonough an email to see if I can join in. I've already beaten Montgomery County in court, pro se, over land use issues so much of the County Council know me.
This statement perfectly describes the basic problem with the liberal agenda in this country.
“Running from the liberal agenda will only make it stronger”
So true. Reason enough to join the Tea Party revolution.
Ping!
Montgomery county is destined to be the first county on the eastern side of the Mississippi to eventually declare bankruptcy (my bet is within three years). They can’t sustain the pension benefits package or the county infrastructure.
Yep Monkey county has become a sanctuary city.
This is why my elderly mother is paying over $3,000 for a property taxes, that is supposedly valued at $400,000 but, in reality if sold she would be lucky to get $275,000.
That’s peanuts compared to what we pay in New York State.
We have to keep beating them down.
That's good that you are familiar with the workings in your area

We must keep the feet to the fire of the ones that are newly elected to offices, and the ones that are there already.
The new House leadership is encouraging thus far. I can’t wait until a multitude of hearings commence in January. Time for some real transparency for a change.
The State of Maryland should demand the public university prove that every last one of it’s students are either legal citizens of the Maryland or paying full unsubsidized tuition.
I am actually against State funding of universities peroid. I think it corrupts the University system, but this is an issue Maryland must resolve itself.
Hopefully state Delegate McDonough will be able to bring suit on his own if the State's Attorney refuses. I already let him know that I'll be glad to join in if he needs a Montgomery County resident in the suit.
