DeLay Guilty of Money Laundering
Houston Press ^ | 11/24/10 | Unknown

For five years, the case against Tom DeLay for money laundering through his Texans for a Republican Majority PAC has been seemingly trapped in the Texas courts facing pre-trial appeals. On November 1, it finally made it to trial and today the verdict is in: guilty on both money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

The slightly-less-than-humble DeLay lost his majority leadership in Congress after the indictment came down, but he has maintained his claims that this case was politically motivated throughout the entire process right up to defense attorney Dick DeGuerin's closing arguments.

The jury clearly didn't buy his argument and now DeLay is potentially facing life in prison on money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering charges. DeLay is accused of channeling $190,000 in corporate money through his Texans for a Republican Majority PAC in 2002 to aid GOP candidates.

How in the world can they tell if a juror is a "Liberal Independent"? That's not a party registration.

Is liberal independent another way of saying SOCIALIST? Bernard Sanders calls himself an "independent" too.

And you honestly believe that would stop a dem. lawyer/prosecutor or judge? All three in hte Scooter Libby case knew far in advance who really leaked what he was being accused of leaking, yet they prosecuted Libby anyway. And allowed him to be sentenced and go to prison. Nothing these fascist prosecutors and judges do surprises me anymore.

Why didnt the one republican hold out and hang the jury?

The jury was probably instructed that if they didn't reach a decision, they would be sequestered rather than permitted to go home for Thanksgiving where they would most certainly find it difficult NOT to discuss the case with friends and family.

Eddie Bernice Johnson should be in jail as well for stealing scholarship money.

and it was likely more in retaliation for DeLay’s role in redistricting than for any lawbreaking.

So he’s also being sentenced for the FUTURE redistricting next year.

I’ll have to wait for another TX freeper’s analysis on why the RATS thought this was a good idea, with all the hurt we’re fixing to bring down on them.

In LA, you can stash ill-gotten $90,000 in your freezer, make the Army drive you through Katrina floodwaters to retrieve PCs from your NOLA house while residents are drowning in their attics, and what happened to him? Nothing?

Start prosecuting the employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens and submit fraudulent social security payments.

Start with Tilman Fertita, restaurateur.
