I’m always perplexed when someone attributes California election outcomes to demographic factors, particularly race.
Were it not for family members, who are either unable or unwilling to move, I too would leave the State that’s been my home all of my life! But, I’m in agreement with EricT, that “The Cal GOP is more like a country club for liberal old-money insiders. No conservatives need apply.” They did a piss-poor job of outreach, getting the “conservative” message out to the people. I suspect that they don’t know how to. But, not everyone in this state is an illegal alien or receiving government assistance!

Well I disagree with the idea that the CA GOP has not outreached to women and nonwhites. We had female candidates leading the charge for governor, US Senate, and state Treasurer, a Latino candidate for Lt. governor, and a black candidate for Secretary of State.

Simple truth is this: CA unfortunately has long since transitioned from Reagan Country to a solid blue state like NY, VT, MA, RI, and HI.

The only kind of Republicans who can win, unfortunately seem to be nominal Republican Rinos like Arnold and Richard Riordon.
