Outrageous.

The diabetes blogs are on fire about the scanners and enhanced full body pat downs. The TSA did not factor in this information........

Insulin pumps are not supposed to be exposed to x-rays, and even if a pump-wearing flier does wear their pump for a full body scan, the invasive pat down will be conducted by people who don’t know that the insulin pump is a life saving device.

CONNECTED POLS GET BIG PAYOFF We keep hearing full body scanners are necessary because of terrorist threats. But it turns out the people who make the things played a role as well. USA TODAY found firms with multimillion-dollar contracts to supply airports with body-scanning machines more than doubled their spending on lobbying in the past five years and hired several high-profile former government officials to advance their causes in Washington.

Scanner firms hired lobbyists include Linda Daschle, a former federal aviation official and wife of Tom Daschle, former Senate Majority Leader. L-3 Communications, which has sold $39.7 million of the scanners, spent $4.3 million trying to influence Congress. Rapiscan Systems spent $271,500 lobbying. It also hired former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff who has been a big proponent of scanners. Rapiscan made $41.2 million from the government.
