Short of a crown physically being placed on Mitts head, this is as close as were likely to get to an official coronation of him as the establishment choice in the primaries. I was giggling while watching it, trying to imagine his reaction as the most RINO-y president of modern times gives him a very public thumbs up, but actually this shouldnt hurt much. The base is already lost to him thanks to RomneyCare, so the best he can hope for now is to consolidate his position among centrists/anti-Palinists. And the Bushes did him a major solid on that front: Not only do they both talk him up, but when pressed on other candidates they like, they mentioned only Pawlenty, Haley Barbour, and Bobby Jindal (who almost certainly isnt running). The omission of Mitch Daniels, a potential genuine threat to Romney, is conspicuous given Danielss service in Dubyas administration. I wonder if that was mere absent-mindedness or a deliberate snub. Ah well. No mystery, though, as to why they failed to mention Palin; Barbaras contempt for her, in particular, is obvious.
Incidentally, now that weve got the Bushes sniping at her and Karl Rove criticizing her show and her fans, does that make this hotly disputed Daily News piece from earlier this month any more credible? Palin supporters bristled at the idea that Dubya might have been privately critical of her, but Im not sure why. Tea partiers are forever reminding us that the movement is as much a reaction to Bush 43 as it is to Obama; if the man behind TARP and years of ballooning deficits doesnt think much of Palin, that only proves her conservative cred, no?

Who cares?!
I guess Jeb won’t be running?
The Bush family drops another 5 places on my list of favorite politicians....
In other words don’t vote for Romney.
Stay out the Bushes
The PC Ruling Class chimes in. No doubt Romney is his favorite for the GOP nomination because Obama is the Ruling Class’s choice to be President for another four years.

If Romney is the Republican candidate I will vote for whoever the Democrats nominate, even if it’s Obama. He’s going to lose anyway, so we need to make sure he loses BIG. Make an example of him!
McCain II? The RNC will run with the RINO and sink any Conservative that tries to run “out of turn”. Oh well, we shall see.
No surprise that a progressive Republican president would support another Republican for the job.
That will show them..haha
When I voted Libertarian in CA, it was because I didn’t see a difference between Whitman and Arnold.
I don’t see a difference between Bush II and Romney.
Romney should get beaten up over Romneycare.
Any primary candidate that doesn’t beat up Romney by linking Romneycare with Obamacare isn’t worth voting for.
Romney should go down in flames in the primary.
If I were a Romney fan, the GWB endorsement would cause me to back away from Romney. I am happy that W was president rather than Gore or Kerry, but I am glad he is now a private citizen. In 2012, we can and must do better.
As a post script. . “Lisa”, the RNC’s girl, stated that Governor Palin wasn’t “worldly” enough, not sophisticated enough I suppose. Not to ridicule anyone; but if anybody thinks that the left is above dragging Romney’s Mormon faith through the same mud they dragged Palin’s faith through, they’re got another think coming. Just wait until SNL does a skit on Romney and Mrs. Romney’s “special marriage underwear” in order to turn the average voter off. Remember, Twinkie said it here first. Does anyone doubt they’d do it? (It’s not off limits because it isn’t liberal and is faith based.) - Flame away!
The Bushes need a little ‘round-up’ sprayed on them....STFU and leave us alone....We don’t need anymore ‘Republican-Lites’ runnning for Prez.
The Bush’s have been quiet for a long time and not involving themselves in politics.
This is a good policy for them and they should continue it.
That is a polite way of saying HW STHU
RE: Hes going to lose anyway, so we need to make sure he loses BIG. Make an example of him!
I actually made this point to a friend of mine in 2008 ( a lot of conservatives either stayed home or voted for Obama to crush McCain to make a statement to the GOP ). He would not believe me.
You just made my point.
We’re not really surprised, are we? Bush 41 is a good man, but his political pedigree is Country Club GOP. I had no illusions he’d jump out and say “Sarah Palin.”
