Bushes name Mitt Romney as their 2012 favorite

Former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush named Mitt Romney as their favorite Republican for the 2012 presidential nomination.

"If you asked me, who was the nominee be, I couldn't tell you. We like Mitt Romney. We know him well and like him very much," Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry King.

The former president then joked about his support, saying: "Don't want to kill him off."

"He's a reasonable guy. A conservative fellow, which is good. But, no, I think he'd be a good president, a very good president," Bush said of the former Massachusetts governor.

The former first lady echoed Bush's words when she was asked her favorite.

"I'll go with George. Mitt Romney. I like a lot of them. But I like people who feel that you can respect other people's ideas. I like that a lot," Barbara Bush said.

The Bushes were asked if their son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, was thinking about a presidential run.

"I don't think he is. In fact, I know he's not. But, would he be a good president? Absolutely. Don't just take that from a father prejudice view. I mean, he's a good man. He performed as governor. He's well spoken. He is not an extremist. He's not a wild guy that attributes bad motives to those that disagree with him, and he's good. And people that know him and hear him say the same thing. So, I think the bottom line is he just doesn't want to try, doesn't want to do it," the former president said.

The interview aired Monday night on "Larry King Live." It got attention over the weekend when CNN previewed it, airing a clip that featured Barbara Bush saying she hoped former Gov. Sarah Palin stayed in Alaska.

"I sat next to her once, thought she was beautiful," the former first lady said. "And I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."

Typical Republican elites - next good ole boy in line gets the nomination.

I think we've had about enough of that...

We need to recognize, a vote in the primaries for anyone other than Sarah is a defacto vote for Romney.

The establishment always splits the conservative vote among several conservatives, leaving the way open for their candidate to gain the plurality.

Just as it did in 2008 with McCain.

We need to come together early behind a single conservative, and I really believe Sarah is our answer this time around...

but if votes that could go to her are split off to Huckabee or Barbour or Pence or who ever else, we will once again be left with the RINO establishment Republican.

Everyone always blames the party for shackling us with these RINO’s, but really, it’s kind of our own fault for not coming together behind one conservative who can win.

Does that make sense?

Their support for Crist certainly helped too, didn’t it?

"Mom says it's to be: Dad. You. Me.
Then Mitt 'cause he is RINO, then Hillary,
then Jeb, then Chelsea. Oink. Oink. Oink.

“The problem is the first primary states are more moderate (RINO) areas (IA, NH, MI, NV). He could have a huge lead right off the bat...”

Good point. (I guess ask the question, “What would Reagan do?”)

The Bushes consider anyone who advocates reducing the size and scope of gov’t, enforcing our immigration laws, and who doesn’t gush about Islam being “the religion of peace” an extremist.

I agree. We don’t need no stinkin’ reasonable people.
It’s time for ‘NO MERCY”.

FYI
Rumors coming out of DC continue about an ambush vote on the Dream Act Amnesty which may take place Monday or Tuesday of next week! Some ‘Republican’ sources are trying to sing you to sleep claiming they believe the chances of passage are low. Don’t you dare fall for that! We must fight this Amnesty push with all we can muster!

If the Democrats stick together in the House, they only need ONE VOTE in the Senate to pass a cloture vote with 60 US Senators! They just need one more person in DC to agree to betray America and millions of illegal aliens will be granted amnesty using the current laws. Illegal aliens will be on the path to legally voting in US elections, as opposed to illegally voting as they do now.

I live in Michigan and Sarah Palin can play very well here by appealing to Reagan Democrats and the children of Reagan Democrats.

There's a reason she started the “Going Rogue” book tour in Grand Rapids “... the huntin’ and the fishin’ and the hockey moms.”

“They’re a bit tetched in the head” They are dreaming, they should just take all their riches and go sit on a beach some where. I could never support any choice they make any more. They are very out of touch with the American middle class - again.

Yes, that makes absolute sense. It's unfortunate that we can't close all those open primaries (why the F* not??? oh well, never mind) and Romney is going to get a lot of democommie votes in those. The ONLY thing we can do to combat Romney's democommie strength is to unite behind ONE conservative candidate.

Even if I wasn't already a Palin supporter, I hope that I would have the wisdom to see that Palin is that ONE we should unite behind. Even if I liked Pence or one of the other ones better, I HOPE I would have the wisdom to do what you suggest:

Unite, unite, unite. Only Palin can unite us.

The alternative is:

A Romney nomination and an Obama 2nd term.

That's what the media wants.

That's obviously what the Bush's want.

That's obviously what Karlcommie Rove wants.

That's probably what all the hypocrites (eg, Krauthammer) in the "conservative media" want.

And we've got to fight them all.

We've got to beat them all.

Sarah Palin is our only hope.

The MSM backs sharia and the Islamic invaders.

Like Mitt Romney who knows how to make $$$$$$$$$
---even from the 911 victory mosque.

"Bain Capital, has cut checks totaling $90,000 to Romney's operation. "

"(The GroundZero Mosque) cleared its final hurdle ….
developers plan to build the $100 million center which will include a mosque.
Since its incipient stages in July 2009, when a Muslim-run real-estate development
company purchased the damaged, vacant building and land where the new center
will be built, the project has sparked controversy and debate.
.... the tattered building that was bought by the Muslim real estate company had
been owned by a subsidiary of Bain Capital, a company Romney founded in 1984.

So it's OK if his company can profit off the sale of the land ."
