How does someone diagnosed with a slipped disc in the morning dance a winning performance the same evening?!?!?

Because that's a fairly subjective diagnosis, in terms of actual physical impairment. I have two herniated (slipped) discs, and while it can cause me pain, I can also quite often function with virtually no notice of it. It depends on the progression of the injury, and how bad the condition is at any given moment. It will be this way until fusion occurs on its own, or until I have surgery to do it.

Your disk sounds like it happened gradually which is different than one that happened suddenly due to injury because of a twisting of the back. Can you dance strenuously with much bending of your back? Would your doctor approve? I think not.
