It’s way easier to kill rail passengers with bombs - longer time frame, more places to hide explosives, including the tracks. Trains are just another metal tube filled with people.

Americans will be “bitterly clinging” to their cars, I’m afraid:)

Railroads and local transit will be next for this kind of security. Since 9/11, trains have been the main targets of Muslim terrorists in the West.

I have heard TSA has some of the backscatter machines at some rail stations. I am looking into rail for a long trip as a substitute for flying early next year, nevada/southeastern US eats a couple of days...
