You do realize the context of my comment was in regards to Barb attacking Palin don’t you? I think it affects conservatives when the former first lady gives ammunition to Palin’s critics on the left and sends the signal that she is putting her weight behind an establishment type like Romney.
And I’m sorry, no matter what you think of the son, the parents were rather petty in how they treated the Reagans. They were never invited to the White House until after Bush lost the election to Clinton. They were not Reagan conservatives. In fact, Bush 41 wasn’t a conservative at all. It was one of Reagan’s biggest mistakes in making him his V.P. and they apparently are the gift that keeps on giving to conservatives. It’s a pretty low blow that “Bar” took at Sarah when her own son wasn’t considered “smart enough” to be President by the liberal elite.
It’s funny because I am on record on FR as not being a Palin cheerleader; I actually liked Christie. But the more I see the media and the establishment of both parties attack her, the more I realize they see her as a threat (much like Daddy Bush when he saw Reagan as an “extremist” and called Reaganomics “voodoo economics”)... so I hope she runs and I can’t wait to vote for her in the primary.
That being said, I just don't see how anger at Barbara Bush for dissing Sarah Palin does us much good. I don't think she'll have one iota of influence in the 2012 election, and if we didn't call it to everyone's attention, you've gotta figure that since Larry King gets absolutely no audience, it would have had minimal negative effect at worst.
And if you're worrying about how the left will treat Sarah should she decide to run for President, do you think it can get any worse? They've already butchered her, and will certainly continue to do so.
I just can't get worked up about Barbara Bush. Sorry.
