Getting back to the point of my post -- yes, lines move slow now. Just think how much slower they will move if you tried to run an airport the way the Israelis run Ben Gurion. You would have to be at the airport 6 to 8 hours (again my opinion) just to make your flight.

As for the rest of your post. Good soapbox preaching. I don't disagree.

Not necessarily. My husband is a commercial pilot. He said he was laying in bed thinking about this- with all the registered frequent fliers and the accumulation of all their data, airlines know if someone is flagged as a risk by their travel habits. Using that and active profiling would work. That leaves the last minute travelers, one ways, etc. that get closer screening. The security should be turned over to the airlines since they’re the ones with the databases.
