Facing a federal lawsuit accusing "America's toughest sheriff" of failing to cooperate in a Justice Department investigation into allegations of discrimination in his arrest of illegal immigrants, Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Wednesday unveiled a new armed "Immigration Posse" to combat illegal immigration in Arizona.
Sheriff Arpaio, who heads the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Phoenix, said the new armed posse --- which includes Hollywood actors Steven Seagal, Lou Ferrigno and Peter Lupus --- could help his deputies enforce immigration laws in the state. But, more importantly, he said the new posse "would provide a means by which citizens could feel they are helping in the fight against illegal immigration."
"Law enforcement budgets are being cut and agencies are losing personnel and yet the battle to stop illegal immigration must continue," the sheriff said. "Arizona is the busiest port of entry for people being smuggled in from Mexico, Latin and South America. So asking for the public's help in this endeavor makes sense, especially given the success the posses have experienced over the years."
Fifty-six new Immigration Posse members from various professions were to be sworn in Wednesday by the sheriff as "illegal immigration fighters." Mr. Seagal, who has starred in several movies, is a sworn deputy in New Orleans. Mr. Ferrigno, who played the "Incredible Hulk," works as a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Lupus formerly starred on "Mission Impossible."
"These guys are busy with their acting careers so I don't expect them to be here on duty very often," Sheriff Arpaio said. "But they can be instrumental in heightening public awareness of the immigration issue and encouraging others to join the posse's effort to help reduce the flow of... "

Wow I thought Steven Segal was a big lib? I have turned off several of his movies due to the liberal leanings of the movies. I thought he was a big lib but he does have a LE background and works closely with the Jefferson Parish LE as a Reserve Deputy Chief of the Sheriff's Office. He is currently taping an A&E special with the JP Sheriff's Office.

His cop show is pretty entertaining. He is quite an odd dude that doesn’t really fit in any conventional category. Based on the show, it is clear that he respects the 2nd Amendment. He shows a lot of compassion for the downtrodden, but is definitely a “tough-love” sort of guy. He seems sort of contradictory - a gentle man with killer dogs and fighting skills. He practices a lot of eastern philosophy, yet he is narcissistic. His hair has receded and thinned, but I think he paints his scalp jet black. He may even have hair tattooed on his scalp - it is funny. Half of the shots of him are close-ups that crop out the top of his head.

“Yeah Fox News had him on a couple of their shows when he showed up with the check to pay for all the nice weapons and ammo! The Police could not afford the arms they needed and he showed up with big Bucks to pay for it!”
He's a cool guy. I was glad to see him play something other than a smart alec in Joe Dirt.

If Kelly would have followed my advice on the domestic abuse restraining order, Mr. Seagal would only be engaging the enemy with his more than capable open hands.
If a Mexican asks him if he could have taken Bruce Lee, he better say no. They love them some Dragon down there..

"America's toughest sheriff," Phoenixs Joe Arpaio, is creating a new armed "Immigration Posse to combat illegal immigration, and Hollywood actors Steven Seagal and Lou Ferrigno, along with Dick Tracy and Wyatt Earp, have signed up. Is this a joke?

My great-great-great grandfather was 6’ 10” and weighed just under 400 pounds. During the Civil War, he carried mail back and forth between the lines. He started out riding a horse that was part saddle horse and part draft horse. Then John Hunt Morgan and his raiders swept through his part of Kentucky and took his horse. They left him a big draft mule in its place, so he ended up riding a mule for the remainder of the war.
