Just killing the people that our own drunken drivers aren’t killing.
Those wild and crazy Amish youts again.
Awful crash. One couple’s injuries from the crash: him-broken hip; her-broken pelvis
Driver was from Mexico but seems to have driven over the border so probably here legally. His companion, also from mexico, was killed. Another motorcyclist lost his wife in the crash and was himself injured. Terrible. Prayers up.
I know the area well. I used to live in Lakeside. Have driven that road many times..
“The arrest was made when officers smelled alcohol on his breath about five hours after the crash, Goudie said. Results of a blood test were pending.
It is unclear if the driver’s alleged alcohol consumption contributed to the collision, Goudie said, but he was arrested on a misdemeanor and is not being held responsible for the deaths based on evidence collected so far.”
because....
“Authorities are looking for the driver of a gold Honda Civic who forced Rodriguez off the road when trying to pass the motorcyclists on the undivided two-lane highway east of San Diego”
This accident was caused by a driver who, left the scene of the accident after trying to pass the motorcyclists which caused the (arrested) driver to veer into the path of the motorcyclists.
confusing enough? The man who was arrested, did not directly cause the accident.
This occurred just miles from the Mexican border.
Four to one odds says he’s an illegal...
Cheers
Yup, there it is:
“...Rodriguez, of Mexicali, Mexico...”
Cheers
DUI arrest after motorcycle crashes that killed 5
BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS,
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2010 AT 8:24 A.M.
OCOTILLO, Calif. The California Highway Patrol says a man who struck a pack of motorcyclists - causing a crash that killed five people and injured six - has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
CHP Officer Deann Goudie said Sunday that 36-year-old Carlos Ramirez Bobadilla of Mexicali, Mexico, was arrested because his breath smelled of alcohol. Results of a blood test are pending.
Ramirez is recovering from hand fractures at a San Diego hospital. A woman in his white Dodge Avenger was among the five killed.
Goudie says Ramirez won’t be held responsible for the deaths based on evidence gathered so far. Authorities are looking for the driver of a gold Honda Accord who forced Ramirez off the road when attempting to pass 12 motorcycles on a remote desert highway east of San Diego.
So, a driver in a Honda was passing motorcyclists, the other, on-coming, driver (from Mexico) swerved to avoid the Honda and plowed into the bikes? Is that correct?
Yes-it is indeed confusing enough. I think the only reason they arrested the guy was that officers detected alcohol on his breath. He was tested 5 hours after the crash but results aren’t available as of the time the article was written.
Instead of veering to the right like he should have, intoxicated Carlos Rodriguez Bobadilla swerved to his left into on-coming traffic, killing and injuring multiple motorcyclist and causing one of the bikes to strike his passenger door, killing intoxicated Carlos Rodriguez Bobadilla's passenger.
No it's not.
A group of motorcyclist on one side of the road with Honda vehicle behind them...The Honda decides to pass the bikes... As the Honda passes, an on-coming car sees the Honda, instead of swerving to the right, the on-coming car driven by intoxicated Carlos Rodriguez Bobadilla swerves left, crossing the line, into oncoming traffic, killing these motorcyclist.
A gold Honda Civic driving east in the westbound lanes forced the other vehicle onto the shoulder. After hitting the shoulder the vehicle lost control and ran into the center of about a dozen motorcycle riders
The on-coming car driven by intoxicated Carlos Rodriguez Bobadilla swerves left, crossing the line, into oncoming traffic, killing these motorcyclist. Instead of swerving to the right onto the shoulder, intoxicated Carlos Rodriguez Bobadilla swerves left, right into the on coming bikes.
Horrible. Prayers for the bikers and their families.
i had read in the local SD paper that he did swerve first to the right...then overcorrected and swerved into oncoming traffic, striking the motorcyclists.
swerved back across the road into oncoming traffic..
