Shortcomings in Republican efforts during the elections are a reason Michael Steele should not continue as chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), a senator said in an interview Sunday.
"Our ground game, was not as strong as it could've been. We were outmanned on the ground," Sen. Jim DeMint said on Fox New Sunday.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said Steele should be ousted because Republicans could have done a better job reaching voters.

the left would all go into heart attacks!!!
Kerik - I forgot that, thank you. VERY good point - that is a BIG negative.
Hear, hear! The Mittster for RNC chair!
Sorry, no northeastern-corridor, inner-city, gun/2A-hating, abortion-loving, Nanny/Police-State political-opportunist RINOs need apply.
Let him stay in politics if he wants, but just keep in office in New York, where we can keep a wary eye on him and he is limited in the authoritarian damage he can do.
I take you were trying to say “You're” from MA? Yes I am. Interesting. Another internet hard ass thinks I'm too demanding in what I want in candidates (hi Dave W!). As far as “the swamp pool” of MA goes, it's not repairable, hence my tagline that I've had for nearly two weeks. Reading does help one hopefully look less like an ass, especially before you start throwing names and terms around to folks you have zero idea about. Oh, and I have no desire to “talk to” you. You started talking drivel to me. I don't know you, nor do I want to.
It's too bad a few internet tough guys are trying to aim the decorum here on FR toward DU/gutter territory.
Have a great day and a wonderful holiday season though! Please remember, with prayer all things (including the gaining of knowledge) are possible.
HE WOULD.
We won in spite of Michael Steele, not because of him. It's time for a change.
Excellent idea!
I would not want him driving social policies - Good God no. Your points are very valid.
No to Mitt!
I want the RNC to stay out of the primaries and Mitt would not do that. He would do everything possible to hurt Palin’s chances.
I’m not endorsing her. I want to look at all those who put themselves forward and then make an informed choice on my own. I don’t want Mitt or anyone at the RNC choosing our candidate.
DeMint was right and smart to go after Steele’s weak ground game, since that was supposed to be Steele’s cover for his disastrous fundraising.
True enough. Was just answering back at those who want Palin as chairman so she can’t run for president.
LOL Good one. Or how about Trent Lott? ROTFLAMAO.
Would being RNC Chairpreclude her (or anyone) from running for POTUS? If yes, then I don’t want either her or DeMint as Chair.
Oh no - Lott? I’d take Bill Clinton before him.
Chairpreclude = “Chair preclude”.
Not needed as much as required...
I require it...
RUSH LIMBAUGH
Seems like the most elementary conflict of interest that couldn’t be allowed.
Bill would probably have a good time as RNC chair—especially while conniving for Hillary ‘12.
