Shortcomings in Republican efforts during the elections are a reason Michael Steele should not continue as chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), a senator said in an interview Sunday.
"Our ground game, was not as strong as it could've been. We were outmanned on the ground," Sen. Jim DeMint said on Fox New Sunday.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said Steele should be ousted because Republicans could have done a better job reaching voters.

Well, let me say this: I like Palin and think she would be a better conservative POTUS than any other of the empty suits running. Look at the list of potential runners. Huckabee,Mitt: nope on both counts.
She would be savaged by both sides, the rinos and the democrats. She can survive that, then dealing with the problems would be a cake walk.
Either way, if it comes down to either Palin or a Rino, Palin gets both votes in this house.
Bull!
He's a gun grabbing RINO.
He's a Bloomberg who likes wearing women's clothes and has the morals of a feral cat.
He isn't fit to collect dog sh*t.
Jim DeMint Ping!

FWIW, I'll second Palin for RNC Chair. Perfect fit. Give her some more seasoning to get ready for 2016 or 2020.
WALLACE: Senator, I got less than two minutes left and I want to get in two more questions to you, if I can. First of all, how do you feel about Michael Steele serving another term as chairman of the Republican National Committee? Do you think that would be good or bad for the party?
DEMINT: Well, Chris, I want to look at the choices. Frankly, I think where we lost a few Senate seats, our ground game was not as strong as it could have been. We were actually outmanned on the ground.
And going into 2012, we need a really strong leader for the Republican Party to match the get out the vote that we saw from the Obama machine last time. And so I appreciate Michael Steele's service, but I'm looking for some alternatives right now. I haven't decided who I would support.
But we need a strong national Republican organization to help organize the energy of the tea parties and the other citizen activism that we are seeing out there right now. We need to make sure we have a lot of boots on the ground.
I believe that Steele is a nice person but he is in no way a conservative republican, he is a moderate republican that was given the RNC chair by other like minded Rhino’s and moderate republicans because they believe that there is a need for someone like Mr. Steele to be able to reach across the isle just so we all can get along. That has never worked and will never work and now is time Mr. Steele, “the Rhino’s dream child for the RNC “ to go. The RNC needs to be rid of all the Rhino’s and the chairman should be the “take no prisoners” type if the GOP is to survive. The Tea Party movement and the most recent elections should be proof enough that conservatism is what America needs to save and preserve our wonderful country as our forefathers intended. Not someone that wants to take away our greatness and apologize to the world because the USA is the greatest country in this world. I think that Sarah Palin would be an excellent choice for head of the RNC as soon as possible.
I wasn’t being critical of DeMint, I think he damned Steele by faint praise (actually none) and got his message across quite well.
My schizophrenia comment was in reference to the fact that the other senator from SC is Lindsey Graham. What can those voters be thinking?
I understood your meaning in your original post. I just latched onto it because you said you actually watched the interview, unlike most of the posters here. Misleading headlines irk me.
Did really Jim Demint served as Co-Chair for Lindsey Graham’s campaign? Can’t find nothing on the web about. I feel it is a smear till I find real proof.

I agree with you. As much as I would love to see Sarah in the White House, she could do amazing things in charge of these purse strings. More, in fact, than she would probably be able to do as President. The GOP needs a top to bottom makeover.
And right now is a good time to offload Steele as the Dims can’t play the race card after what they have done to Clyburn.
Dino Rossi?
Carly Fiorino? Blunt? Engler?
This reminds me of what the Dems did to Howard Dean after he cleaned our clocks.
Gak! Can you imagine???? The left would have a collective aneurysm! Love the idea!
I agree Steele needs to go and we could use a real conservative for speaker as well.
RNC Chairman Fred Thompson would put a nice layer of frosting on this cake...
Rick Santorum would be a great choice: personable, well-spoken, and a real conservative.
PALIN FOR RNC HEAD.
This is a no-brainer - she’ll revolutionize the ground game, buying percentage points in every state.
