Please explain about transponders, the lack of flight data for the object, and that there are no other visible contrails in the world’s busiest airspace.
Also tell me how you can determine wasn’t an errant old German V-1 type of missile with a jet engine.
I only saw one trail, not two or four like commercial jets always have...
Please elaborate for me....
This bird was traveling through that airspace at altitude, whereas most in that airspace are domestic and taking off and landing to the east of this event. Facing west from the nearest airport will eliminate most if not all contrails from domesctic travel.
We do have flight data from several possibles, especially an US Airways Flt 808 and a UPS bird flying a similar track. I am certain there is an ATC track with the proper Mode 3/C data. FAA may or may not provide it on request.
There was a very wet front moving in, so there was more than just the disturbance from the jet engines occuring. The whole jet was roiling the air, so you wouldn’t be able to pick out just the engines. It happens on occasion.
As far as it being an old Luftwaffe V-1, all I can say is it is highly unlikely.
The flight has now been narrowed down to one of two likely candidates... To take a look at the filght path data -- in 3-D -- go to this long page of photos and graphics. (Be sure to look all the way down the page to get the flight path graphics.
