Amazing Interview: Air Force General says "Sub Launched Missile, 100% Certain"
Fox News Interview with Air Force General Tom McInerney | November 14th 2010 | Fox News Hannity Interview

Posted on 11/13/2010 2:55:59 PM PST by DontTreadOnMe2009

Hannity was surprised to hear a famous ex Air Force General tell him “That Is A Missile, Shot From A Submarine!” I quote retired Air Force Lieutenant General Tom McInerney (ex commander of 11th Air Force in Alaska) “I spent 35 years flying fighters, and you can see the guidance system kick in, I have watched that film 10 times, I am absolutely certain that that is not an aircraft, but a sub launch ICBM missile!!!” See the video and judge his words for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LivRJOWrcpA&feature=player_embedded#! This corkscrew effect can only be caused by the body of an airframe slowly rotating as it ascends, a highly unlike trajectory for an airliner. Jeff Id and others point out other signs that this is a rocket, not a contrail, as well.

Such as the fact that one can clearly see the flame of the rocket’s engine and that there is no gap between the rocket’s body and the plume as one normally sees in a pressure wave induced condensation trail behind a high altitude jet.

The contrail hypothesis is like the AGW hypothesis.

If a single observation-such as the fact that the plume spirals at one point into a corkscrew shape-occurs that can’t be explained by the hypothesis, then the entire hypothesis must be discarded in favor of a new one that better fits the observed facts. It’s called the scientific method. I’m always amazed at how few otherwise finely educated dolts actually picked up a course in the philosophy of science while at uni. Sure would make rational analysis on all manner of topics more fluid. The principle of parsimony does not necessarily support the contrail illusion hypothesis either. Since thousands of high altitude jets transit this airspace daily the contrail illusion must be fairly common and local observers well versed in sorting out illusion from truly anomalous events.

Moreover, as Boballab makes clear, US military activity in the area is dense and arcane. Making the missile hypothesis even more parsimonious than a once in a lifetime optical illusion that defies the usual physics of condensation trails.

Personally, given Obama’s Asian tour and the unprecedented (for foreign policy limp-wristed Obama) anti-China saber rattling that he and Hillary are doing along the way, my long money is on a rogue Chinese sub commander hyped that he made it through to LA letting loose a signal to the world that China is ascendent. Sure, it’s a 10 to 1 punt, but anyone got a better idea?

Ironically, the proof for Chinese submariner’s hubris might well be the Pentagon declaring that Yeah, Unicus the obscure blogger got it right all along.

It was a contrail!

Nothing to see here folks.

Move along…

IF this had been a regular contrail, the aircraft would have had to be heading TOWARD the camera (within a few degrees of straight on) in order for it to be leaving a trail that appeared to be nearly vertical below the plane. In that case, the aircraft would appear to grow larger, and speed up as it became more nearly overhead.

As you watch the video, however, just the opposite is the case.

Although the plume is below the object, which would be consistent for the contrail of an aircraft moving almost directly toward the camera position, the object producing the plume appears to grow smaller as the video goes along, and seems to slow down, which is consistent with an object moving AWAY from the camera position; NOT toward it.

An aircraft moving more or less directly AWAY from the camera position would have left a contrail that appeared to be nearly vertical, but would have been ABOVE the plane; NOT below it.

ONLY an ascending object moving AWAY from the camera could simultaneously appear to be at the top of a nearly vertical plume, appear to be growing smaller, and seem to be slowing down.

http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/29770 Great article By Doug Hagmann  Wednesday, November 10, 2010:

First half is here, go to their website to read more

A person of normal sensibilities would have to be intellectually numb, overly medicated or otherwise too preoccupied with keeping food on the table and the proverbial wolves from their door

not to realize that there is something very, very wrong going on today.

By now, most Americans have heard about the sighting of what appears to be a missile,

and a big one at that,

apparently being launched from a location about 35 miles off the coast of Los Angeles near sunset last evening.

Video of the incident was taken from a KCBS news helicopter flying over the mainland at the time.

The manner in which this story unfolded should be a story by itself.

The corporate media, quick to comment on the culturally indigenous dancing rituals of U.S. royalty, were quite slow on the uptake on an issue that has serious national security implications in light of our government’s response to this incident.

Today, Americans were treated with a number of explanations from our government officials, military pundits, and even media personalities about the incident.

Those explanations range from the “embarrassing if true” to the “downright insulting,” with numerous variations in between.

Ranging from having no information on the incident, to assurances that an investigation is underway, and my personal favorite, it is the contrail from an airplane that caused an optical illusion due to a problem of visual perspective, we are either in a boatload of trouble with regard to our national defense, or the hubris of the power elite is at an all time high.

As news of the event began to appear in the media, I contacted several well placed and trusted intelligence and military sources in an effort to determine the truth about the incident.

These sources, as I was reminded by one during our conversation, are risking their careers to talk to me. And they talk to me not because of my charm or influence, both of which I admittedly lack, but because they care about the current status and future of our great country.

And there is no better reason.

I was less than reassured from what I learned today.

“There was an air of deep concern among the officials”

According to one source within the Pentagon, many of the top brass were in unscheduled, high level meetings throughout the day.

Although he was not privy to the information imparted during these meetings, he told me that “there was an air of deep concern among the officials,” and all participants had a DAWT policy (don’t ask because I won’t tell) policy. Surreal was just one of the adjectives amply used by my Pentagon source.

At the very least, according to this source,

it was a missile.

As to whether it was ours or theirs, he does not know. But he said “they do,” a reference to the brass. The rumors circulating “within the [Pentagon] rings” suggest that it was a deliberate launch of a missile from “Chinese property at sea” intended as a warning to the U.S.

Although it was odd that he would not clarify the nature of the “Chinese property,”

I can only assume that it did not originate from Catalina Island or U.S. military ships in the area, as we still own those, at least to my knowledge.

A domestic intelligence source speaking to me off the record acknowledged the event by his assurances that it was indeed “some type of large missile” and not an illusion or model rocket.

This, according to information from his superiors, who are deeply rooted inside the beltway. He provided a lot of technical speak that amounted simply to this: the air traffic controllers were taken by surprise and clueless, there were no prior warnings of any scheduled military tests issued, and no one from the military has confided to his agency that “the missile” was ours and launched by mistake.

In other words, it was not ours and it was no mistake.

Link to News Report for Key West event on New Years Eve 2008

Think about it a ballistic launch on New Years Eve? No NOTAM was issued. It is another example of how an aircraft contrail can be misinterpreted as a ballistic missile due to failing to understand perspective

On New Year's Eve, some Florida Keys residents were awed by an unusual sight in the south to southwest skies off Key West. Recreational boaters, commercial fishermen and others snapped photographs they sent to the Navy, asking what the fast-moving object was that left a thick plume in its long wake, which glowed orange in the setting sun. Some speculated, and worried, that it was a rocket or missile, or military test. "To me, at first, it really looked like a missile," said commercial fisherman Lee Starling. After seeing video of the object on YouTube, Navy officials this week said the sighting was a less nefarious seasonal phenomenon. "Not until we saw the YouTube video could we really see that it's an airplane," Naval Air Station Key West spokesman Jim Brooks said. "But we get calls all the time over the holidays." To accommodate the increased air traffic during the holidays, the U.S. government allows international commercial airliners to fly in areas that typically are restricted airspace, Brooks said. The uncommon sight is coupled with the curvature of the Earth, which makes the planes appear to be flying vertically, he said. "We looked at it and it's a contrail," Brooks said of the visible trail of condensed water vapor made by the exhaust of the aircraft engine. "Not only that, but looking at the direction, it's probably coming from the Yucatan Peninsula. ... Because that's normally restricted airspace, we don't see it all the time. But we see them enough to know that it's not a strange or new phenomenon." Liberty Clipper Capt. Ron Opiela said he's seen it before. And he and Starling said they saw two more planes in the same general airspace a few days later. "There's nothing supernatural or covert," Opiela said. "The planes flying from the west use Key West as a way point. It wasn't a missile, but it's always pretty cool to see."

I'll let you do your own research to work out the area that the NOTAM covered.

I already researched W537 and found out that the closest point in W537 to Catalina Island is 117 miles away. That was a few days ago. But the same guy is still pushing the idea that this NOTAM is connected, even though it's not even for the right day.

It isn’t a distraction. It is proof that people have been misinterpreting aircraft contrails for ballistic missile launches and especially at sunset. As you can see from the examples people are confused by perspective. They think that the plume that they see is going up, get confused, and report it to the media and authorities as a missile launch.

Wideminded,

Thanks very much for reply. Both that NOTAM and the Notice to Mariners for the Air Warfare Range areas are still being used all over the web as some sort of proof.

Don't worry the rogue Chinese submarine launching all these ballistic missiles has been captured. You can sleep easy!

So, if you checked the date why are you claiming that a NOTAM was issued for this claimed missile launch?

It is a distraction. It's misdirection. What does a two year old, poorly filmed video made in Florida have to do with the Nov. 8 video?

How many of these "false" missile launches that you're posting videos of have instigated in depth investigations by the DoD? That after ten days they still only say "we don't know for certain what it was."

My mistake on the date but the area slants to the southwest and does cross the flight path from Honolulu to LA.

You could set your watch by them!

And the Chinese have our airline schedules!

I'm beginning to think the only real story left in this is how and the video was edited as it was, why the data on where and how long they shot isn't forthcoming, why they didn't follow-up the next day (investigate it themselves) and why KCBS isn't releasing the whole shoot complete with timestamps.

Have you read the comments here on the KCBS website? They are from the day after it happened.

Blah blah blah, still, no proof to back your claim.

When was the last time you were able to see navigation lights on a plane that was flying above you at over 30K feet, during the day time? People need to believe it was a missile, they need the conspiracy.

Add in the ominous “the government is deceiving you line” for extra paranoia!

Do you think that the flight track data showing that UPS 902’s track matches that of the “missile” exactly has been faked?

How many times must I type this. There is no known track for the missile. If you cannot even agree on what direction it was heading, you have no known track.

Or do you just believe in coincidence so much that it seems reasonable to expect an SLBM to appear in the exact same spots in the sky where a cargo plane would be onserved?

We have no track for the missile. Only some obviously faked photos.

Were are the sonic boom reports? An SLBM moves through Mach 1 less than a minute after launch.

We have no data on the missile launch. No speed. No max altitude. No time of flight. No landing location. No launch location. Any theories that assume we do, are false.

Why there is no stage separation seen even though China’s SLBMs are two stage and ours are three stage?

Repeat after me. We have no data on the launch.

Gil Leyvas claims that he observed it for 10 minutes

False claim. He stated he stayed on the event for 10 minutes. And that NASA article says it is flight AWE808. Wrong.

When you have a second witness give the same approximation that the launch was north of Catalina Isle. that just adds to the credibility of the first witness. If we knew exactly where they both were we could increase that credibility especially if they were separated by a good number of miles north to south.

Assuming north of Catalina Island when viewed from Santa Monica. Spent some time trying to locate the CBS helicopter on the FlightMonitor out of Bob Hope, but could not. So we still have no known location that can give altitude and exact coordinates. He must have been flying low ? Is this the KCBS Helicopter ? And are those numbers N492TV ?

The drift of the "plume" and the path of the A/C on approach have next to nothing to do with each other.

They are no longer connected, but the fool moved them together. That is why they are aligned. Do you know what the odd of them being aligned are ? His mistake. At any rate, Plume moving at known speed in known direction. Plane moving at known speed in known direction. So when we have the data, you deny the data. When we don't have the data, you create the data out of thin air.
