That’s a pretty racist comment. Not everyone is the same.

How long did you live in Costa Rica? How many Nicaraguans did you know?

And Nicaraguan isn't a race, it's a nationality. I'm not racist, I'm a culturist. Their culture is disgusting, and every single one of them that I encountered conformed to their culture.

You want to know how disgusting Nicaraguans are?

*Mexico* won't let them in.

Well I lived in Costa Rica for over ten years, I’ve known thousands of Nicaraguans some pretty fine people and some bad ones.I also have known many Ticos some fine ones and some terrible ones.

I also lived in five different countries were I encountered the same experience.

Your comment certainly can be described as xenophobic which is as bad as being racist, and I take offense because I was born in Nicaragua. I came to the US legally and became a citizen. I served in the military for 21 years including one year in Viet Nam...so I guess that still makes me a disgusting human being.

“Iran doesn’t have the ability to supply a combat force outside of its borders. Neither does Chavez.”

I dunno, a brigade-sized unit disguised as “volunteer laborers” working on this “canal” would be within suicide range of Panama.

Wrong. It can be taken exactly as it was rendered: My experience with Nicaraguan culture, and its members, has been hideous. Xenophobia is fear of the new or unknown. There is nothing new or unknown to me about Nicaraguan culture. I have no fear of Nicaraguan culture, I just can't stand it.

Good for you for leaving that useless culture in favor of the superior American civilization. Excellent choice. And thanks for serving.

“There is nothing new or unknown to me about Nicaraguan culture.” so you know all there is to know about Nicaraguan culture. Have you heard of Ruben Dario?

Perhaps you may want to check out the complete definition of xenophobia.

xenophobia: “hatred” or fear of foreigners or strangers or of their politics or culture.

I am glad you feel “superior”

Obama the Traitor will help Chubby Hugo.

We are the Ones that will have to keep an eye on both.

Obozo already tried to reinstate a leftie in Honduras who had been legally removed for his actions. Then paid-off Lula to put Mel up in the embassy.

Which sea level will they use, the Atlantic or the Pacific. I forget which one has the higher but IIRC, the Atlantic is a decent amount higher than the Pacific Ocean. True, they would only need one series of locks, but they would still me necessary.

A U.S. State Department official told Haaretz's Washington correspondent Natasha Mozgovaya on Wednesday that the U.S. is not aware of any plans to build a new canal in Latin America.
Just in case you had any doubts, here it is: solid, iron-clad proof that the new canal is on the drawing boards.

The canal doesn’t have to accommodate an aircraft carrier, it just has to let supplies through. War is about logistics. An aircraft carrier would be too vulnerable there anyway.

Obama the Traitor will help Chubby Hugo.
Obama the Traitor is going to have his hands full during his last 2 years in office.

Iran, Venezuela and Nicaragua combined lack the experience and resources to build this canal. Obama the Traitor will make appropriate noises to help them, but he won't be able to do much, as much of his time will be spent defending his commie-traitor agenda here in America as it gets derailed and taken apart.

I think the plans for the canal are real (the State Department denial of them is virtual proof that they exist) but I think the whole project falls into the category of Leftist Fantasy.

What I really find interesting is one posters comment on this thread that this might all just be a good excuse to post Iranian military in Nicaragua, though another poster did counter that by questioning Iran's ability to even do that much.

I wouldn't worry about a Nicaraguan canal all that much, though I would worry, if I were Costa Rican or lived in Costa Rico, about Nicaraguan takeovers of adjacent Costa Rican real estate. That's going to happen with or without a canal and maybe the real reason for the "canal" is to facilitate those thefts.

I agree with your accessment totally, and hate Daniel & Humberto Ortega (and Arturo Ruiz) and what they have done to Nicaragua. I have "observed" that since the time of the Contra effort.

A friend (who lives in Costa Rica) that I met on Twitter during the Zelaya mess in Honduras clued me in on this topic. He asked for help from 2 of us that were actively covered the U.S. involvement in the election dispute in Honduras. We had done all that was possible to expose Obozo's efforts and motives, I think it had some impact. Finally enough of it became public that the press was embarassed into covering the issue (poorly).

My wife and I have a good friend who is from Costa Rico, but is a naturalized U.S. Citizen. My wife was one who stood with her when she was naturalized.

"Chubby Hugo" (the slug) has ambitions of replacing Fidel as the head Commie in this hemisphere. If he receives any military aid from Iran it would be Hezbollah, that is what he has to resort to in order to keep the Persians supressed. (that may not last)

I plan to do all I can to make that shorter and a more clean removal of all his supporters. There is nothing that I would like more than to be actively involved in investigating and persuing the conviction of those who put "the post turtle" where he is. Traitors all, and deserving of punishment.

War is about projection of power. A barge full of beans, bullets and bandages doesn't project power.

Yeah, I’ve been to Nicaragua. Saw a good portion of it while I was there doing a contract for Bellsouth International managing a cell system for them out of Managua. Doesn’t matter that it would be a sea level canal. Venezuela, Nicaragua and Iran simply do not have the technical expertise to clear the jungle, much less build a canal. Nicaragua is a shockingly poor country, too, and I’ve been to some real 3rd world hell holes.....
