Well, ain’t that special? Haven’t we been lobbing ICBM’s from nuke subs for years? What’s there to prove to anybody? We CAN do it. And we’ve been doing it for decades. If Asia hasn’t gotten that memo yet, they never will.

That may have been a launch (show of force) from a Russian or Chinese submarine.

the former ambassador said it could possibly have been a missile test timed as a demonstration of American military might Now, THAT one we can exclude outright. We don't do "might" anymore.

You did not see what you saw. It was just fireworks or a meteor. Nothing to see here, move along.

Ellsworth's speculation doesn't ring true to my ears. It makes no sense for a couple of reasons. Our capability to launch ICB's from submarines has been known for decades.
Of course, Obama could be showing off like a tin-pot dictator.

A Navy spokesperson told KFMB it wasn't their missile. He said there was no Navy activity reported in the area Monday evening.Nope, wasn't ours, don't have a clue. We're not concerned though, no increased activity, no DEFCON 3, probably just kids...
It's the nonchalance that says so much.

Of course it could have been us, but we have such a loose-lipped leadership that these days hardly anything takes place in secret. Usually we’re spilling our guts about everything we do.
If it wasn’t ours, we should have sunk it.
I found it interesting to see that (military?) helicopter in the foreground in some of the footage.
Curious.

I just want everyone to know that what we actually saw couldn’t have reached 13,000 feet, wasn’t actually a missile trail, and didn’t take down the aircr...
Oh wait. Nevermind.

Ellsworth said such tests were carried out in the Atlantic to demonstrate America's power to the Soviets, when there was a Soviet Union, but he doesn't believe an ICBM has previously been tested by the U.S. over the Pacific. Government schools... either for the reporter or Ellsworth.

You have to wonder if it was North Korea tweaking Obummer as they did when it was speculated that a North Korean Sub blew up the Oil Rig in the Gulf. You never know what the real truth is since the Feds are quiet on this missle launch.

If this is the case,we won’t find out anything until the incident can be PC whitewashed.

It is a contrail. It is all a matter of perspective. It isn’t the first time that such a contrail has caused confusion.
http://contrailscience.com/a-problem-of-perspective-in-the-oc-new-years-eve-contrail/
Think about it? No ballistic missile is launched without a NOTAM (Notice to Airman) being issued. There is a whole issue of flight safety for all concerned. Also think about an unannounced launch of a ballistic missile. It isn’t going to go unnoticed by the likes of Russia with their space based and ground based ballistic missile warning systems. For the Russians it would be considered a rogue launch. Strict protocol is in force between the US and Russia to avoid such a misinterpretation.
