Sen. Patty Murray has won a fourth term, riding a wave of strong Democratic support in King County to defeat Republican challenger Dino Rossi.
As of Thursday evening, Murray was leading Rossi by more than 45,000 votes, taking 51 percent to Rossi's 49 percent. That's up from a 14,000-vote lead on Election Day.
According to a Seattle Times analysis, Rossi would need to get about 54 percent of the estimated 591,000 uncounted ballots statewide to overcome Murray's lead.
But nearly 264,000 of those ballots are in King County. Murray's already commanding lead there has only expanded since Election Day. She took 68 percent of the 69,000 King County ballots counted Thursday.
To overcome King County's heavy support for Murray, Rossi would have to take about two-thirds of the remaining ballots in the rest of the state. So far he's received 53.2 percent of those non-King County votes.
That makes Rossi's task virtually impossible, even though hundreds of thousands of ballots remain to be counted statewide.

Drats...
This shouldn’t surprise, but it’s sickening.
WHY? Like NY/CA .. they deserve exactly what they vote for.
can there be at least one single time when a close race goes our way??? EVER??
More proof that you can’t fix stupid.
As Rush said today when writing off California as a lost cause because of the SF supervisor calling for “Food justice” when banning McDonald’s Happy Meals.... write off the left coast.
All of it.
The population in the NE corridor and Pacific coast can just suck it up as we reject everything they stand for.
The states on the west coast are absolutely corrupt cesspools.
Sorry to say, this result was never in doubt.
Did anyone tell the “news”paper they’re not in charge?
They’re not the decider!
But you sure can fix elections (if you are a Democrat, particularly in Kings county)....
Washington deserved better than Dino Rossi. I’m sorry, he’s a nice guy, but a terrible. boring campaigner with no fire in his gut. He was a 2 time loser already, and now he’s made it 3. If we couldn’t beat the nitwit in tennis shoes this year, when can we? I am so disappointed. Rossi needs to retire from politics.
SICKENING.
Sen DeMint is using his Senate Conservatives Fund to provide financial assistance to Alaska’s Joe Miller in his legal challenge of Murkowski. I hope he would do the same for Rossi, should Rossi choose to challenge these results (assuming that the Seattle Times is correct in their call). I don’t know if Rossi will have it in him to go for yet another recount, even though it would probably be a Quixotic quest given the corruption of Washington State.
You’re right, Washington deserves better.
What in the world is wrong with the people on the Pacific Coast? Someone must put heroin in the water systems to produce a majority of people with such screwed up judgment. The rest of the nation has nothing in common with their unamerican attitudes which weaken the country.
King County is as dirty as Cook County.
West coast states weren’t the only ones to disenfranchise military voters. In Washington, it does make a difference.
It is sad to have such an airhead for a Senator. Thanks King County!
