Republicans To Put Halt To DADT Repeal In New Congress

Unless Senator Harry Reid and President Barack Obama can pull of a miracle in the Senate, the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell in a legislative manner dies this session. Representative Howard McKeon, the Republican from California, will be taking over as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and he is signaling rather strongly that he plans on rewarding his supporters among the Christian Conservatives by obliterating the repeal of DADT.

According to McKeon, “Republicans on both sides of the Capitol aisle are committed to passing a National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011 that is not weighed down by the current majority’s social agenda items.”

President Obama had better start coming up with a Plan B or the LGBT Electorate is going to be even more pissed off than it is right now.

DADT?

yeah repeal it and go back to the way it was before DADT....in other ways no queers in the military....period. (and no women in combat roles while we are at it).

but even before that we have to repeal zer0bama care and balance the budget.... FIRST. protect our constitution while we are at it concentrating on the 2nd then the 1st.

I guess the LGBT Electorate, even though they were in a hissy-fit over DADT, didn't do enough to punish Obama's enemies on November 2.

Now they are really pissed-off(!), but the election is over.

Elections have consequences....they sure do. I wish we had won the senate.....who do you think is going to give us gays in the military???? Oh you say the house????? Huh. No it will be the judges and it just might be the Supreme Court......who picks those Supreme Court Members and other judges????? Oh the Senate (ok confirms....the President picks them). We got the short end of the stick on this election. Although nobody understands this.......YET!!!! The only thing that will be good with the House is that they start the bills (which is good, but those judges have been a pain in our butts for years).

I wish we had won the senate

Actually, a conservative political analyst made a good explanation why winning both the House and the Senate would not have been a good thing. Had the Republican won both then nObama would be able to run in 2012 with the statement that the Rupublicans stopped his agenda. With the Demoncrats the majority in the Senate, although far from having enough votes on party lines to ram bills through, the Demoncrats will carry part of the blame. And, all budgets must originate in the House, which is controlled by the Republicans.

NO HOMOSEXUALS.

Well, actually there are homosexuals in the military. If you follow the wording of the complete Federal law, it is possible for a homosexual to be in the military. A friend of mine, who retired after 24 years in the military, admitted to me he was gay. I told him I (28 years military, recently retired) knew, but I couldn't ask him nor could I say anything to have an investigation started (DADTDP, as in Don't Pursue). So yes, there are homosexuals in the military.

There is not a constitutional right to be a member of the armed forces. I prefer to rely on men with substantial military leadership experience and responsibilities to decide what contributes to an effective military culture and what does not.

>>> Republicans To Put Halt To DADT Repeal In New Congress

Did you miss the court ruling? DADT was already gone. It was Obama who rescued DADT by appealing the judge’s decision and getting the policy reinstated.

“Monday’s 2-1 decision struck down an Oct. 12 ruling from a district court judge in Riverside, CA, which declared the law unconstitutional. Judge Virginia Phillips, who wrote the decision, ordered a worldwide ban on the law, which prevented its enforcement until Oct. 20, when the 9th Circuit Court granted an emergency request from the Obama administration for a stay on the injunction. “
