The New Congress: The media's Big Question seems to be: Can the newly empowered Republicans reach across Pennsylvania Avenue and govern? The voters' message Tuesday was that America is over-governed.
President Obama's morning-after, tail-between-the-legs reaction to the GOP's historic gains was classic Rope-a-Dope. Contending that "yesterday's vote confirmed what I've heard from folks all across America: People are frustrated — they're deeply frustrated — with the pace of our economic recovery," the president revealed how he intends to play the cards he and his party have been dealt. He wants Republicans to join Democrats in a scaled-back version of the Obama agenda.
Contrary to the president's claim, folks all across America are angry that the president and departing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Congress have prevented economic recovery — spending a trillion dollars on a stimulus that failed, imposing a profoundly unpopular socialized medicine scheme, turning General Motors into Government Motors and "reforming" the financial system by perpetuating dangerous defects.
The president is pushing a button close to the heart of the American character when he says Washington hasn't worked hard enough. Perish the thought: Let the politicians take themselves a long vacation from trying to run our economy for us.
The message from Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., who won re-election against a tough challenge from Tea Partyer Sharron Angle and who will continue as majority leader, was even more tone-deaf.

Obama’s speech following the big Republican wins in the House and the governorships across the U.S. was an insult to the American people. This outsider implanted in the White House is Johnny One Note. Even now following a loud and clear repudiation of Obama and his agenda, Obama keeps telling the American people that they are wrong in their perceptions, that they don’t have patience, that they are remiss is not getting used to more and more government control of their lives. He is a communist ideologue to his core; he is answering to a drummer other than the American people. The American people are spitting him out and rightly so.
Anything settled for less than a full repeal is just as good as getting on board with the original legislation.
It’s not just obamacare, it’s in the Stimulus bill as well.
