Braley now only up 1073 in IA-1 and the trend is to Lange and has been for some time. Go Lange! Alas I don’t know what’s out. Scott County came in first and game Braley most of his early lead - Culver carried the county. IA-2 and IA-3 have further to go and need some BIG precincts to come in to have a chance. At least all 3 Supremes are behind with the most precincts statewide out in King and Latham districts so it looks they are going down. And Schultz is ahead for SOS so it looks like GOP will pick up that, although AG isn’t looking so good.

Rats! Lange closed to within 820 of Braley then faded to lose by 4200 although Braley didn’t get a majority. Had Branstad done as well as the judicial removal votes the extra coat tails might have carried Lange over the top. Loebsack barely reached 51% and Boswell 50.6% to give the Rats 3 seats, whereas the GOP won 2 seats by 65%. With Branstad and (I hope, but am not certain) 1 house of the legislature, and likely losing a seat in Congress Iowa do better after redistricting. We did throw out the 3 supreme court judges (all three rejected by higher % than selected Branstad), but with the constitutional convention call failing and the Rats still holding the Senate we aren’t going to be able to fix gay marriage nor are we going to be able to fix the judicial selection process this go around. We need to reload and hope for Presidential coat tails to take the IA Senate next time.
