Well, as a Giants fan who remembers 2002 with crystal clarity, it really hurts to lose a World Series you should have won - it still hurts every time I think about it. But the 4-0 loss to A’s in 1989 wasn’t so bad, because the A’s were clearly the superior team. I don’t think Texas fans should feel bad about this one. Pitching wins short series every time, and the Giants were the hottest team in baseball over the last few weeks. The team that gets hot at the end always seems to overachieve in the playoffs, regardless of talent level.
I'm with you. I said during the last week of the regular season that I would not want to play the Giants in the playoffs — short series or long — because of a superb starting rotation backed by a good bullpen. It was befuddling that the idiot media thought Cliff Lee was an automatic two wins as though Tim Lincecum wasn't the two-time reigning NL Cy Young. Although offense tends to garner the majority of headlines, good pitching beats good hitting, as your Giants proved.
Since you're a Giants fan, I guess we have Dusty Baker in common, not that that's a good thing.
