During his “Reign of Terror”, Robespierre liked to literally chop off his enemies’ heads. Today, he’d be like Alan Grayson with a brain.
OK, not quite literally. He condemned them, and the executioners let the guillotine give “severance pay” to the prisoners.
It is worth noting that Robespierre ultimately had his own meeting with Monsieur Guillotine. Anyone who might think the U.S. Revolution and the French Revolution had much in common needs to think again. Much Statism and Radical Leftism got its start with the French Revolution. Not much of an improvement, if at all, over Monarchy.
