It’s HIS generation that supplies the military with soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. It’s HIS generation that is forcing these discussions to take place. It’s HIS generation that is going to have to deal with these decisions that are made by our politicians.
As a tax paying and productive member of society, I think his opinion is equal to any citizen in the U.S. Frankly, I’m surprised to hear any conservative say differently.
There is too much at stake and your civilian opinion means nothing, you and your son are dealing with something that you have no clue. Please, in this area, you'd do us all a favor by butting out.

And it's our generation's responsibility to educate them on why this stuff matters and that they should care. To let our children falsely believe that these decisions won't make any difference in their life is almost criminal.
I've always said that liberalism is the adolescent philosophy, because it's based on immediate gratification without thought of long term consequences. We should do our best to encourage our children to consider "what ifs".
