Mohammed ranked 16th nationally for boys, but was the most popular name in the West Midlands.

Would love to see the 20 year trend.

Even that is less statistically significant than at first appears. Simply because all Muslim parents are expected to name their first-born son Mohammed (or one of its variants); whereas non-Muslim parents have a huge variety of names to choose from....an even larger variety given the lamentably fashionable current practice (deriving, it would appear, from the US) of giving your unfortunate child a synthetic or invented name, in the deluded hope it will confer distinction.
