In August, 2008 Lauren Valle was detained with four other activists, in Beijing for unveiling an LED banner that spelled out FREE TIBET in English and Chinese in bright blue lights.

Lauren Valle, 31, was born in Falmouth, MA, and has lived in Brooklyn, NY. She studies Eastern Religion and Philosophy at Columbia University. She has supported various organizations working to build a more just and sustainable world. She is taking action for Tibet this summer because she believes that the Olympics represent a unique and critical opportunity for people of conscience to come together on a global level and speak out for human rights.

Sure I’ll get flames here, but I give her SOME credit for actually protesting in the belly of the beast. The vast majority of these activists will only protest in safe, democratic places where they know they’ll get kid-gloves treatment from the Authorities. In the West, such protests are risk-free street theater.

China is another story, however.

I used to vacation and party in Falmouth every summer weekend growing up during my teens, early 20's.
Falmouth used to be fun, The Moonbats now rule that town.

Now that they have succeded in squeezing the life out of Falmouth it looks like the local kooks have turned to other endeavors...
