Wow, I really took some heat for that reply. Well let me explain a little more, our average tenure is 20+ years and we hire for the long term. Most of our current employees have chosen our line of work for a career and are very well motivated with good work ethic.
One of the things I say to all prospective employees is that we are looking for people who want a career with us, not just a job. Well without wanting to denigrate the profession I have chosen, it is not suited for those with bachelor and master degrees. The work we do here is very much blue-collar and not something that anybody with a college degree aspires to. So we would rather extend employment to qualified candidates who will be here for the long haul, not as a "temporary setback" while they look for something better.

One of my classmates and close friends during college earned his BSEE with me, and then he went and got an MSEE as well. Worked for 7 years before he realized it wasn't for him.
Last 10 years he's been a line cook at a greasy spoon in Portland, OR, is as happy as he's ever been, wife, 3 kids, loving life. And he makes a MEAN chicken fried steak to boot!
People change. Give them a chance!

I understood exactly what you meant and agree with you.
People who are overly educated for a job or are under educated for a job are always looking for a fight, have a grievance or just don’t want to do the job. They’re like a pair of ill-fitting shoes - one too tight, one too loose. There’s always an ‘attitude.’
