Now...the supposed date this painting was done by Farideh Lashai is 1999...but I am dubious. Check the artist's other works. It seems to be a recurring theme.
If not, and this is supposed to represent the Twin Towers, then this broad's statement from that same article is reprehensible.
Favorite Item in the Apartment: "A massive painting that I got in Iran, a few years ago, by Farideh Lashai, a friend who is also Irans pre-eminent abstract-expressionist painter. It gives me joy every time I walk in my door."
Gives her joy???? OMG!
It could have been inspired by the 1993 WTC bombing, the conflagration chimneying up to the top. But even if it purely coincidental, a New Yorker would instantly be horrified the moment it was recognized or pointed out. And if not personally outraged, then sensitive enough to ones houseguests that it be moved to the summer home or perhaps the proposed ground zero mosque.
This one was described as being one of Farideh Lashai's recent works. And we are suppose to believe it's just an abstract of a tree?
There is nothing abstract about what this image is supposed to represent.
NOTHING
Christiane Amanpour: "Favorite Item in the Apartment: A massive painting that I got in Iran, a few years ago, by Farideh Lashai, a friend who is also Irans pre-eminent abstract-expressionist painter. It gives me joy every time I walk in my door."
"Painting of 9/11 twin towers burning, given to Christiane Amanpour by the enemy in Iran and she gets "joy" from seeing it."

I’ve despised her for years. Now, here’s good reason why I shouldn’t change my mind.
