IN LAS VEGAS Barack Obama remembers how good it used to be to be Barack Obama. He only wishes everyone else would remember, too.
"I understand how some of you might think back to election night or inauguration night when Beyonce was singing and Bono," the president told a crowd of 10,000 in Seattle on Thursday. "And you were saying, boy, that was exciting, that was fun, that was a big party. And now it just seems like we're working all the time and folks are arguing and everybody is mad. All these pundits are on TV. And this is just kind of discouraging."
Obama journeyed west this week on a final five-state scramble before the midterm elections in search of money for his party and votes for endangered Democratic candidates. His voice hoarse from a brewing head cold, he has gone from Oregon to Washington to California to Nevada. On Saturday, he finishes his tour in Minnesota. His speeches have been filled with Obama-esque word pictures, and his tone has been relentlessly upbeat. He has revived many of his lines from 2008.
Yes, "Yes We Can!" is back. And Obama is still "Fired Up!"
Yet if his speeches before the friendliest of faces are a reflection of his mood, the president is also retracing his steps in hopes of finding something he has lost: the adoration of the American people.
His public approval ratings have dropped 18 points since Inauguration Day, and in his exhortations to the crowds, a bit of weariness and an unmistakable note of nostalgia seeps in at the edges.

The Barack Hussein Obama Bailout Tour 2010. I’ve got to get the T-shirt.
Anybody know where to find out who is paying for “gullible’s” travels?
It is very alarming to me that this a**clown continues to draw such massive crowds wherever he goes. I cannot think of one other president in my lifetime who could command such allegiance in a midterm election.
Do any of the astute analysts on FR have some insights into this phenomenon? And to what it could mean to Nov2 turnout?
He drew 10k peeps?
Who was the opening music act?
That old black magic has me in its spell, that old black magic that you weave so well.
Those icy fingers up and down my spine
That same old witchcraft when your eyes meet mine.
The same old tingle that I feel inside...
I think this campaign is hurting him more than reminding people of the old “magic.” He’s out there bitching and whining and blaming, not “inspiring” anyone.
He’s the Downer-in-Chief.
Most of these have been music concerts with Baraq as a side show. That said however, there are a lot of folks who love Baraq because he's providing them with some of your money, everyday.
Obama is counting on the taxpayers to bailout his regime. That’s what this is all about. That and keeping his comrades in his regime out of prison.
B.O. is coming back to Ohio Halloween day/night. Trick or treat?
Baraq's toxic coattails will poison a lot of Dems, LOL
Empty suit, 'zero' .... take your pick ..... Obama has been exposed as a fraud - the adoration isn't coming back. It is really disturbing that the President of the US has to have 'adoration' ..... he'd be better off looking for 'respect' (he's lost that, too), but that appears to be a nonstarter when it's all about Barack and not about the country.
How pathetic and unpresidential — reminding people of all the fun he had at the inaugural balls. As if that matters one whit to the health of the nation. And then complaining about the difficulties of governance and how mean people are. Is he suggesting that if the Dems get re-elected he’ll throw some more big bashes to make people feel good again?
His nonstop whining is disgusting and tiresome.
Maybe he he has arthritis and is using her gin soaked raisin therapy.
soon to be just *fired*
He is the least qualified person in history to hold that office. His birth records are sealed, his college records are sealed, very little is really known about him and he never actually ran anything or authored any major piece of legislation that would put him at a national level. It was all smoke and mirrors. He is now considered one of the worst presidents in history. All he kept saying was hope and change. Well all those naive and gullible people that voted for him got what they wanted. Unfortunately they dragged everybody else over the cliff with them. Now it's too late. This country is crashing down the cliff and obama keeps blaming Bush.
