In an interview on MSNBC this week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) discussed the issue of jobs with commentator Ed Schultz. After first taking credit for preventing a worldwide depression, Reid then explains what he does whenever Nevada voters ask what else he can do them in stating:
"They want to know what I have done for them, and that's why it's important to me, any chance I get, to say that my number one job is to create jobs, and [Sharron Angle] says that it's not her job to create jobs."
So if creating jobs is Reid's self-declared number one job, then how well has he been doing at it? Well, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, not too well. Since Reid became the majority leader in January 2007, the nation has lost nearly 6.7 million jobs. That is almost 150,000 lost jobs per month.
Now those are national figures, of course, and Reid is a Senator representing the state of Nevada. Therefore, it is important to also look at how jobs are doing inside his own state.

Joe Biden of the West.
Yep. Hoof in Mouth disease.
Harry can say anything and then lie to support it and the fifth column enemedia will spew his lies as facts. ... I’m thinkin’ that once we get the guillotines built, they need to be on eighteen wheelers, so they can be rushed to areas of the country where pernicious liberalism rears its ugly snakehead to check the winds of change. Washington DC should be depopulated asap, for at least ten miles into the Maryland side burbs.
I don’t understand why there hasn’t been an ad juxtaposing Harry’s many contradictory statements regarding jobs.
He says it’s his number one job to create jobs.
Then he claims that he is not responsible for the unemployment figures.
He said, “Only 36,000 people lost their job today and that’s good.” ON THE SENATE FLOOR!!
I don’t know what it will take.
I have to tell you, Nov 2nd can’t get hear fast enough.
My nerves can’t take it anymore and win or lose, at least it will be over.
News reports are stating that Reid is addressing his volunteers today, aluding to a “rough eight months,” a reference to his wife’s car accident. Shameless trolling for sympathy votes.
Listen to me, Harry: you have been a handmaiden and water boy for the worst president in American history, you have wrecked the finest health care system in the world, you employed corrupt and unprecedented procedures to jam this legislative monstrosity down our throats, and you ruined Christmas 2009 for everyone I know.
Every dog has his day. Reid, your gig is up. Enjoy retirement, you socialist pig.
Your nerves are going to be doing a "happy dance" on Nov 2.
Nov 3 rd.
Fairy Reid creates jobs?
I don’t know anyone in Nevada who receives a paycheck with harry’s signature on the front.
I'd think the good people of Nevada would be heating up the tar and readying the feathers and the rail, about now.
Fairy Reid creates jobs?
I dont know anyone in Nevada who receives a paycheck with harrys signature on the front.”
My brother contends that not one person in 10,000 is qualified to sign the FRONT of the paycheck.
Didn’t I just hear yesterday that Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the country, even higher than California and Michigan”
Nevada has had the highest unemployment for July—August—Sept—October.
We also have the highest number of foreclosures & the highest number of bankruptcies.
I also agree with Sharron Angle-—it is NOT her job to ‘create jobs’.
It is the job of Congress to get out of the way of those who will create jobs—lower the taxes—stop the insane spending under NObama—End the myriad of paperwork that is contradictory-—STOP NObama HELLTH care in it’s tracks, etc etc etc.
It’s actually true. Not because people are stupid or lazy or any other perjorative one might use.
It’s just there are only so many idea men, who can act that idea and nurse it to some kind of maturity.
Most people just want to work and get that paycheck.
And the ratio of idea men to workers is about 10,000 to 1. That’s why we never worry about competitors.
There’s damn few of them.
