Figuring out whats inconsistent with NPRs editorial standards can be awful difficult. The network terminated the contract for Fox News contributor Juan Williams because of a comment about Muslims, but apparently has yet to take a similar action against Nina Totenberg. From Reasons Michael Moynihan:
Check out this clip, from way back in 1995, of NPRs Nina Totenberg telling the host of PBSs Inside Washington that if there was retributive justice in the world the (admittedly loathsome) Jesse Helms would get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it. Totenberg is still NPRs legal affairs correspondent.

Juan should sue, saying he was fired because he’s black. The “Nina example” would be good ammo for him.
As soon as it’s revealed that Jesse Helms was a Muslim, then yes.
‘Learn To Speak Tea Bag’ (video cartoon by NPR bigots)

Just a reminder but NPR didn’t fire a cartoonist who insulted tea party attendees. Apparently that kind of thinking is consistent with their editorial standards and practices.
Did not Ms. Nina get canned from the old “National Observer” for plagiarism?
I wish we could fire NPR.
BTTT!
How about Julianne Malveaux for wishing death on Clarence Thomas!!!
Michael Savage told a caller to his TV show to get AIDS and die and he was promptly canned.
Hey Nina Totenberg, I have an great idea for you in the spirit of equality and tolerance that you have shown: Please get AIDS yourself.
They LOVE Totenburg’s mad hate filled rants. They aren’t firing her.
In lefty land it’s OK to hate normal people and love machete toting jihadi headchoppers.
Bump
But Juan Williams dared to compare Michelle Obama to Stokely Carmichael! The horror! That’s the last straw, he’s got to go!
What a joke.
There is simply no place in a free society for a government funded radio entity.
Congress should immediately stop all funding and repeal NPR’s licenses. Otherwise it will linger on with this:
Liberals like blacks to remember where they belong-on their ideological plantation. Juan got uppity.
Where is the NAACP stepping in on the behalf of Juan? A black man being fired for making an honest statement reguarding his uneasiness is now an offence deserving termination? What about the ACLU?
Didn’t Barack Obama relate a story reguarding his erstwhile mother crossing the street to avoid what she saw as a threat, ‘typical white woman’? Should Obama be fired?
No kidding....I'll bet if you went through all NPR broadcasts you're bound to find "contributors" making statements that are much more outrageous and offensive then the one Juan Williams made.
I cannot wait for some creative reporter to ask Obama a pointed question about this and see/hear/watch Barack put his foot in his mouth toward another beer summit. lol.
