Iowa ophthalmologist Mariannette Miller-Meeks had come to Washington, D.C., many times since 2000 to talk to members of her states Congressional delegation about health care. But during an April 2007 visit, she caught a fever for Capitol Hill.
Miller-Meeks and other doctors met with her new Congressman, Democrat Dave Loebsack, who upset longtime Republican Rep. Jim Leach in the 2006 election. Miller-Meeks, a Republican and a past president of the Iowa Medical Society, disagreed with her new Representatives views on health care, and a thought occurred to her as she crossed to the Senate side with a group of Iowa doctors.
I said, You know, I might have to run for Congress. And they told me, Well, Im a Democrat, but I might have to vote for you, she recalled in a phone interview last week. At that time, it was kind of a flippant remark. It wasnt something I had seriously considered.

I'm a Republican but I'm a Constitutional conservative and an economic libertarian. Guess that makes me a RINO.
GO TEA PARTIERS!
I hope we make some gains in Iowa.
I’m not so sure that “Mariannette” is a great name for a politician.
I’ve also wondered about how Brad Zaun’s campaign was doing? Is he still hobbed by the personal charges against him or has he refocused the campaign to the issues?
Dr. Donna Campbell is an Opthamologist as well.
A lot of the medical profession realizes that it is over if the dems keep power this year.
Is Dr. Campbell also in Iowa?
He’s not my congrescritter - so I’m not paying much attention to him...

Should say it’s not my district...
No, running for congress in TX-25
Actually, Dr. Donna Campbell is an emergency room physician. I have been working very hard for her, but I can’t get anyone (like the TeaParty Express) to back her.
She is running against the horrible 4 term liberal, Lloyd Doggett. It would be so great to get rid of him.
District 25 in TX covers the city of Austin, which Doggett will probably win handily, as Austin is a terrible blue do in a red state. What people can’t/won’t understand is that district 25 is a very large district encompassing several counties. There are a lot more people in the district that live outside of Austin than live within the Austin city limits. It’s those people who will, by and large vote for Dr. Campbell.
She needs money, as she is running her campaign on a shoestring compared to the money Doggett has in his war chest, due to the special interest liberal groups that are backing him.
If anyone wants to donate to Dr. Campbell’s campaign, please go to DrDonnaforcongress.com and send her a few bucks.
I know she will be very appreciative of any amount you can spare for her. We need this very conservative lady in Congress! She is anti-abortion, pro-2nd Amendment, pro small government, and right on every issue that most freepers would agree with.
Let’s see if we can put together at least a “mini-money bomb” for her.
Thanks for the ping!
Miller-Meeks wrote ME a personal thankyou note for donating to her campaign.
will do just that ....thx for your service in trying to elect her...
she plays on that “I may be a short Mariannette, but I’m nobody’s puppet!”
