Fuel shortage fear amid French pension protests [France’s 12 refineries down or to reduced ops]

France is mired in yet another day of strikes after almost a week of disruption and protests aimed at derailing unpopular pension reform plans.

Air France has been forced to cancel some flights from Paris after runway technicians at Orly airport downed tools.

Oil refinery workers have shut down a fuel pipeline supplying the French capital. Transport ministry officials say Charles de Gaulle airport could run-out of fuel within days.

Police have dispersed blockades at fuel depots in the south of the country. All of France’s 12 refineries have shut down or reduced operations because of the strikes.

Crude imports have been blocked at the major ports of Le Havre, Marseille and near Nantes.

In Marseille rubbish has been piling-up in the narrow streets with refuse workers refusing to make their collections. Heaps of waste are proving to be both health and fire hazards as youths turn them into bonfires.

More demonstrations are planned for Tuesday.

Third-world ,islamized and socialist france is certainly an Obama’s model !

As i can hear and see here,in France, hard-core leftists and african and arab immigrants are joining together for more and more wellfare state with no regard and concern about reallity....They are using violence to force the elected government to cancel the law just voted by the parliament....

I was just there last week - that airport (CDG) SUCKS big time!!! But it's France, so I repeat myself.

You think they'd done a little better of a job designing the building named after their national hero. What a dump.

In the case of France, it’s not just a corrupt elite, but the entire population which is on a self-destruction path.

He might want to reroute through Zurich. THey came through for us during the F’ing Ash Cloud last Spring, when all other airports had ground to a halt.

The true face of socialism on display.

So true...all because they have been denied additional helpings of the money of other people. It seems maturity and dignity in the face of adversity has departed Europe.

I just spoke with him. He’s flying home from Munich through CDG and hoping that the international flights will be given a decent priority as far as fueling is concerned.

Good idea. At least he’ll have great food should he be stranded. And no strikes in Germany. And chocolate ...
