Trapped Chilean Miners Rescue Beginning. Live Coverage

I just had to ask.
The man that was just rescued was Víctor Zamora Bugueño, who has become the group’s poet. “Under the earth there is a ray of light, my path, and faith is the last thing that is lost ... I have been born again,” reads one of his pieces.
He only came to work at the mine after an earthquake destroyed his previous workplace, and wasn’t actually supposed to be down the mine anyway he works as a driver.
Released from his harness, Bugueño dives into a lengthy snog with his pregnant wife, before embracing the rescue team a little more soberly. Piñera hugs him as he lies down on the stretcher. Bugueno looks emotional under his Oakley sunglasses as Piñera says he never gave up on the miners.
“From now on you will lead a good life with your wife. We will never abandon you,” the president says. Piñera then introduces the newly freed miner to Evo Morales two political leaders for the price of one.
Chile has a fully privitized retirement system.
Story now on Drudge:”Media mayhem mars family’s joy at Chile mine rescue”
This is incredible to watch. I’m elated that they are free and hopefully in good health. Chile deserves accolades for the whole operation.
The next man due up is Víctor Segovia Rojas, who the Guardian’s interactive guide to the rescue describes as the group’s official biographer.
A profile from Spanish language newspaper El Pais on Segovia says he has been writing about everything that has happened down the mine since the collapse.
The San Jose collapse isn’t his first mining accident; he suffered broken bones after a slab of debris fell on him previously.

I will love thee, O Lord, my strength: The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer.
The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me. In my affliction I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God: And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears.
Who is like God. I thank him for all the drillers, geologists, who left Afghanistan and came from places in PA and Colorado; I thank the doctors, NASA participants and the media for showing the outcome. I thank him that he gave us a country, (not the only one i’m sure), that excelled enough to help these and many others around the world... whether hated or not.
Continued prayers for those remaining to be lifted out, the families, those who helped their nutrition, routine setup and bolstered their faith.
69 days.
Let us all thank God for what we have... and show our families how much we love them.
Now more hard work begins for the miners up top.
OT, The Mexican investigator re: US hubby killed on water ski, has been found beheaded.
A suspicious package at Palos Verde nuke facility, Arizona.
Come on doc....we are not talking sea water pressure here..this is not a caisson....that mine hole is open to ambient....surprised if the bottom of that hole is 14.7.....looking at Google earth, those mountains in that area are in the 2500-3000 foot range...down 2300 feet...still 700 ASL...but, maybe I’m wrong....spent MANY an hour in a Compression chambers in my AF days.....numerous “Table 6” dives from this ole Freeper..
We have a large hispanic group at our church. When they pray, they often address God as “Senor.”
Wonder who provided the rescue suit with the phrase on it. Can you imagine the uproar if that were done here?
When the alarm went off, my cat, who’d been sleeping on the desk next to the pc, bolted! Glad it was a good signal!
Rojas was the 15th (and he’s up!) Greeted by a friend or family member, I’m not sure which.
Another rescuer going down the shaft.
Why are they still sending down rescuers? Eventually the system will quit working.
The men are wearing T-shirts printed with Psalm 95:4 — “In his hand are the depths of the earth and the mountain peaks belong to him.” The front says Thank you, God, the sleeve says something about Jesus.
The president himself has prayed several times publicly during the rescue. Several of the men are talking about their faith.
How nice it would be to be in a country without all the PC garbage.
I wonder if they have a medical situation down there - guys that are too sick to transport?
I was wondering the same thing. Also, have you noticed that the President is talking to a lot of world leaders? Has President Obama called yet?
The President just spoke to the British Prime Minister and will be seeing him in London next week.
