The pediatrician waiting when Jessica was brought out had cared for my firstborn for two years, and the orthopedic surgeon who worked on her after the ordeal had operated on me (the day after my first ever Father's Day).
We'd moved from Midland three years before the incident, but watching it all unfold on TV really took us back there!
They have backups for the backups. Thank God.
When the books are written and the movies made, I believe this guy will be the real hero. He organized them, gave each one a task to keep him occupied, kept their spirits up and their physical condition as good as it could be, and gave them hope, especially during the first 17 days before they had any contact with the surface.
Make that 36. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit never left them. :)
Hard to say exactly what went on down there. We will be hearing new details for years.

I have copies of TIME and Newsweek with Jessica on the cover. I remember her little face like it was yesterday.
At first I was wondering “whats with that skeleton-looking stuff?” Then I realized they put up some netting to protect themselves from rockfalls...

And it's good to see that, and its acknowledgment, getting through the efforts of CNN/MSNBC to keep it all out.
MSNBC had that Homer guy on a lot, until he gave some of the credit to "our Lord," and she promptly said "Nice to have you on," and cut him off for good. On CNN, the blond foreigner anchor, hearing an interviewee mention Sanchez's comments about 34 down there, said, "Yes, many of them have relied on their faith, BUT they're going to have to face the real world when they come up."
I betcha (and pray that) someone down there was telling the rest about Jesus from the word go, and we'll hear a lot about it later. Look at the faces when they get out of that capsule...

What an idiot. Facing the real word is what they’ve been doing for 69 days. Faith is what carries them through the reality of being trapped a half mile below the surface. Faith is what will carry them to the surface. And Faith is what will carry them forward from this.
That is exactly why I cannot own a television; because had I heard that, I would have destroyed mine.
