Scores arrested in Belgrade after anti-gay riot
BBC ^ | October 10, 2010

Anti-gay protesters have fought running battles with police in an effort to disrupt a Gay Pride march in Belgrade - the first in the city since 2001.

Rioters threw petrol bombs and stones at armed police, who responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.

The office of the ruling Democratic Party was briefly set on fire, and at least one shot was fired.

Calm was eventually restored but more than 100 people, mostly police, were injured, with another 100 arrested.

Sunday's march was the first Gay Pride parade in Serbia since a 2001 event was broken up in violent clashes provoked by far-right extremists.'Hooligan gangs'

Before the march, the head of the EU mission in Serbia, Vincent Degert, addressed around 1,000 gay activists and their supporters who gathered at a park in downtown Belgrade surrounded by riot police and armoured vehicles.

"We are here to celebrate the values of tolerance, freedom of expression and assembly," Mr Degert told the crowd.

While the Gay Pride parade was moving though the city, several hundred protesters began chanting at those taking part as they tried to get close to the march.

"The hunt has begun," the AFP news agency reported them as saying. "Death to homosexuals."

Reports told of gangs of skinheads roaming the streets, throwing petrol bombs and setting off firecrackers as police battled to hold them back.

Thousands of police had sealed off central Belgrade to protect the event.

While the march took place in a heavily-protected area in and around Majek park, violence flared at several points further afield in central Belgrade.

Quite ironic.

That thug is running away from the police as if he were a little girl.

Yeah, sounds like soccer hooligans.

They will look for any excuse to fight and cause trouble. Attacking a bunch of gay pride people is the perfect opportunity for them.

Out of 150 wounded, 120 of them are police.

Wow. I don't usually ping two articles, one right after the other, about the same thing, but this one has photos and more info. Again - WHY is less than 2% of the population (maybe even less than that in Serbia, not so many years of "gay" indoctrination and propaganda) who are mentally ill and with grave character and moral failings, dictating to the other 98-plus percent? WHY?

Something about this does not make sense to my American mind.

To see this level of intolerance in the EU (hate is an overused word), and to see it taken out on the cops, seems out of place.

Something is wrong when just being happy creates a disturbance.

Yep, we are lost.

I am happy for the most part and am proud of it....

"To see this level of intolerance in the EU (hate is an overused word), and to see it taken out on the cops, seems out of place."

That's because it's tolerated there, shoot the fist row and the rest will run like the cowards that they are.

In this case the Serbian Church fanned the flames, like they did in the 1990 genocide, by saying that a march will make people beat them (using G translate). These hooligans are from clero-fascist groups and footfall 'fan' organizations. A decade ago they were sent to massacre rape and loot non-Serbs in Bosnia, Kosovo and Croatia. Now they look for an opening to vent their anger at their miserable existence.

What is more ironic is that everyone who disagrees with Homo-Leninism is always;

Right-wing…

An extremist…

Right-wing extremist…

Far-right extremists…

‘Hooligan gangs’…

Yet the State will over look Islam, their Yobs and Riots, while seemingly almost always enforcing Homo-Leninism on society.

I assume if they need a huge force of 5000 police and only 1000 gay marchers, that the anti-gay crowd was humungus.

5000 police should be able to control a Glen Beck sized crowd plus some.

While it isn't an excuse to injury anyone, maybe those protesting don't want sexual deviants flaunting their perversion on city streets with government approval. I can certainly sympathize with belief.
