The film opens and closes with a quote from the Book of Job, and at a key moment the gospel hymn "Oh Happy Day" serenades the audience. It is, the makers say, the ultimate feelgood movie - about the miracle of life itself.
The movie in question is Secretariat, the true life story of an American thoroughbred race horse that won the Triple Crown in 1973, and it is the latest attempt by Hollywood to recruit cinema-goers from the Bible Belt.

Read the biography on the director. That might be one of the reasons.
Pssst. Hollywood. Try rooting for good against evil. That’s what successful movies used to do, before Hollywood went over to the dark side.
It may sound corny to you, but that’s what has worked, ever since the days of Gilgamesh, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, The Divine Comedy, War and Peace, or any other great work of art.
Or the Bible, for that matter.
He also wrote the screenplay for my favorite movie of all time. “Braveheart”.
Isn’t this more of an effect of the Bible Belt on Hollywood?
Well, if they are heavily marketing it to Christians, then it is presumably clean. SO that is good.
This is one movie I’m going to watch. I predict it’s going to be a sleeper hit like “The Blind Side” was.
I highly recommend it, having just returned from the cinema. Not one profanity, sex scene, or violent act. Not even skullduggery or cheating.
The cinema audience applauded at the end.
Boring... I like the religious themed football games.
I can’t imagine anything conservative/traditional coming out of Hollywood.
