NRA may stop GOP from taking the House
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/05/10 5:25 PM EDT | MATTHEW SHEFFIELD

....The NRA’s bipartisan stance is potentially harming those hopes as it’s endorsed 39 Democratic candidates in the House....Believe it or not, the only ones who might help Nancy Pelosi save her House majority are those who run legislative affairs at the NRA. So called Blue Dog Democrats across the nation are campaigning as red meat conservatives in their home districts, while running deceptive ads about their Republican opponents. They campaign as if they have nothing to do with the Democrat Party that they propelled to power and which passed all of the nefarious legislation that they purport to oppose. The sick irony is that the more successful these liars are in distancing themselves from Pelosi, the more likely it will be that Pelosi will remain Speaker.

Last year - in a moment of weakness - I re-joined the NRA. Whatever the perk was that caught my eye, maybe a cheap duffle bag, never came. American Hunter shows up every once in a while, however there are ENDLESS mailings begging for donations or asking me to extend my membership.

NO WAY!

I'll use some of the NRA bennies at local ranges, gun shops and such, but I bet I could do just as well on my own or with an alternative group.

I was fooled twice, shame on ME!

It sure is beginning to look like the NRA has gone over to the other side. Maybe soros’ money has seeped into lots of big shot NRA pockets. While NRA can still swing its name about and fool some Conservative voters, all they need to do is pull it off this one last time, then we are all sunk.

If decisions at the NRA are so programmatic, certainly they might want to review the top salaries. You’d thing you were paying dues for advocacy and judgment, right? If it’s just checking boxes on a list of policy points and turning out the press releases, some people may be overpaid?

THE NRA IS NOT A PARTISAN ORGANIZATION.....

If an incumbent has a good record on firearms related matters, they WILL support them, regardless of what party they are a member of, or what their ideology is.

After I joined Gun Owners of America it was like a second life to me and they only sent me 2 spam letters in a month but that’s expected unlike the NRA which fill your mailbox with every crap imaginable.

On the very same thread I mentioned, freeper The Comedian posted an entire page of every Dem the NRA is sponsoring for the November elections and there were more than 100, it was GD sickening.

Exactly...the NRA has just become another political group looking for funds... Too bad, they seem to have lost their original purpose!

When they become just another PAC looking for support and money, they are of no use to the average American...

“THE NRA IS NOT A PARTISAN ORGANIZATION.....

Sorry, that excuse may have had some merit BEFORE the Dem party was hijacked by far-left socialists. But today, it doesn’t hold water.

If the NRA wants to support Dems, then they are supporting a leadership with the likes of Obama and Pelosi whom are committed to eventually taking away our 2nd Amendment rights-maybe not tomorrow, but they’ll get to it eventually.

As for being Non-partisan, well, so is the Tea Party, but name ONE Dem they are supporting. I don’t think you’d find one, cause they rightly realize that a vote for ANY Dem today is a vote for socialism and against everything they stand for.

As for the NRA supporting pro-2nd amendment “incumbents”, well, that’s idiotic too if you when you consider that a pro-gun Republican challenger is far more likely to stand up for gun owners than a Dem incumbent.

If that is their policy, tell me why the NRA has weighed into 2 Senate races, neither of which has an incumbent and endorsed the Dem-they have done this in West Virginia and Indiana.

Sorry, but the NRA truly has jumped the shark. In the coming months, the conservative media is going to hold them to account for all the horrible endorsements they made this election cycle, and they will surely lose members in droves, as well they should.

I know well how you are speaking of. he is an angry little man,(45 or so...5’3 at best, according to the pix he had up on his own FR ‘about page’ of himself before he deleted it out). Anyway, JR displayed good restraint when this/his site has been spoken ill of by this guy. JR has just replied to him easily. I do not think I would have been so charitable as JR if I was in his shoes as he was to him regarding these attacking posts by this kid to FR. Stay safe max.

The NRA has become RINO-equivalent Establishmentarian teat-suckers. They have compromised themselves into irrelevency.

GROINO - Gun Rights Org In Name Only.

LOL, CATO Institute and a few sharp lawyers with themir related legal foundation had more to do with Heller than NRA. There are many people who defend gun rights who are NOT NRA.

So what? Schumer and Reid would lead a Democrat majority equally bad on guns because they BOTH are putting anti-gun judges up on the bench.

By failing to oppose every single Democratic Senator who voted for Obama’s judges, the NRA is failig their responsibility to protect gun rights.

I made the mistake of joining a few years ago. They used to harrass me at my home unlisted number once a wekk or so until I yelled loud enough at one of them to take me off whatever list I had ended up on.

After one of their recent non-conservative stands - I forget which one - I emailed them to terminate my membership. They said I couldn’t do it by email - only by a registed, notorized personal letter signed in blood of my first-born son or some such.

Didn’t want to pay for the postage, so I suppose I’m still a member. They’re getting no further dues (haven’t for two years) or anything from me, but they’re wasting a small fortune sending me an endless stream of all sorts of snail-mail trash and offers and solicitations. I like to sign up for the “Win 21 Guns” promotions without sending money, but the rest is used as fire starter material.

Just like the GOP and all it’s offshoots. They have no face.

Ol' son, you're an NRA kookaid drinking IDIOT.

The NRA tried everything they could to keep Heller v. DC out of the Supreme Court, and despite the CLAIMS of the NRA, they didn't support the McDonald v. Chicago case, only demanding, at the last minute, 1/3rd of Alan Gura's 30 minutes to make his case to the SC.

The NRA has already tried to throw monkey wrenches in the works of the latest Chicago case by Alan Gura.

The Fracking NRA is WORTHLESS!!! And the quicker they go out of business and get the frack out of the way of FREEDOM fighters like Alan Gura and others, the better for ALL of us.

America! It's about

★ FREEDOM! ★

★ Estimated Value – PRICELESS! ★

You said it. The problem is that so many here are young year old kids who have no idea what the nra was once. Hurts bad for us old guys who have spent a lot of $$$$ towards the nra. My God I feel very so betrayed by the org. I thought was on my side and I contributed quite a bit of $$$ to plus effort.
