Paris landmarks on terrorists’ list

October 04, 2010

THE EIFFEL Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral are among the top potential terrorist targets in Europe, according to the newspaper Le Monde.

The paper, citing the American channel Fox News, said two “high-up officials in the western intelligence services” have confirmed that the tower and cathedral figure on a list passed on by a Pakistani interrogated at a military base in Afghanistan.

They are said to be among sites selected because they attract a lot of people, along with, for example, the central station in Berlin. Security for the British royal family has also reportedly been increased.

Yesterday Washington warned Americans thinking of visiting Europe to be vigilant regarding potential risks of terrorist attacks, especially when they are using public transport or visiting popular tourist spots. “Current information allows us to think that al-Qaeda and allied organisations are continuing to prepare terrorist attacks,” an official statement said.

Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux said: “We are naturally being vigilant and take into account what our American allies say. We don’t want to worry our citizens; suitable measures have been taken. However, at the same time we must not be in denial and must remain on the alert.”

If the cowardly Islamic scum hit Notre Dame, or ANY Catholic cathedral, I’m for nuking their ugly black shoebox in Mecca, like yesterday.

And Jesse Ventura would probably have no problem with building a Mosque in what formerly stood there.

This creeps me out. I’ve had several disagreeable dream this past year of a structure like the Eiffel Tower, ending in disaster. Last one a few weeks ago.
Still, it’s hard to believe the jihadis would do that, muslims are in enough trouble in France and an attack like that would result in a turning back of their advance. One thing leads to another, and if France turned them back, other countries might consider doing likewise.
In short, it would be counterproductive to the jihad.

All they have to do is look to see where the muslims are not. That will tell them where the attack will be. Either we start getting serious about these threats or we give up. If our government does not get serious, then we need to change our government and we need to change it now. Our people need to come back to the realization that the government serves at the will of the people. The people do not serve at the will of the government. We need to flush our system of government and remove, permanently, all socialists, marxists and communists and return our country to its original values.

I smell a rat! Why bother to actually plan and carry out an attack when you can have a plant ‘confess’ that a big attack is in the works and list some of the busiest places on Earth? Just the mere hint of such an attack has sent governments all over the world into a tizzy.

Look at what these people have cost us in time and money in the 10 years since 9/11. It’s practically incalculable! And it goes on day after day, week after week, with no end in sight.

I know we have to react to such threats, but we really do need to find a way to do so without giving the Muslims a sense of success in the process.

My son is planning a European vacation this month, first stop, Paris. I hope that I can talk him out of going. He was in a London tube station on 7/7, standing at his stop at Gloucester station when the train blew up, having just missed the train because he overslept.

I can’t think of an European structure more iconic that the Eiffel Tower. Europeans would see a tilting and collapsing ET as significant as we see the twin towers. It would polarize Europe and definitely would not be good for European muslims.

Sadly true. While a handsome and appealing structure, it is, at its core, just that: a pretty tower.

In secular Europe, the magnificent Catholic cathedrals, upon which a town’s life was once centered, are now just empty, beautiful museums.

I had a similar dream last week also. If it did happen, it would wake the Europeans up once and for all of the danger they are in. I wouldn't trust any islamic walking the streets in Paris. I like how they use their women to be their mouthpieces instead of the men. I am still wondering why is that?

In the past, many of us had nightmares of its collapse. However, our unease was due to a rusting structure. A cursory look at the steel and rivets while climbing the stairs on the Eiffel Tower certainly gave one pause.

Fortunately, the Eiffel Tower was renovated; I have an original rivet and I have to wonder if the layers of rust were all that held the rivets in place.

I’d start with the Dome of the Rock. Clear the way for the Jews on the temple mount...

As long as they don’t blow up the Louvre Museum, I’m not going to worry about the rest.

What a total loss to the western world if that museum went up in flames.

At this time in history, I would hate for something to happen to the Venus de Milo and other wonderful treasures.
