Turbo common rail injection diesel. A VW Jetta diesel already gets about 30/40 mpg, and many hybrids don’t do much better than that.

1999? to 2005 TDI Jettas are easily capable of achieving 50 mpg on a regular basis.

I hope that’s in town! Volkswagen had a diesel rabbit thirty five years ago that got 51 mpg on the road.
