Goes to show how much talent King really has. No one in the horror genre even approaches King's ability to spin a yarn. Even his worst stuff is heads and tails above most anyone else, Koontz included, though I like Koontz. The Stand is one of the greatest works of fiction ever written IMHO.
When I got cancer two Years ago, I decded I couldn’t die before at long last I read Proust. I did all six or seven volumes depending on how you count in a year. I loved it but began to dislike Marcel. And didn’t die so now I have other projects.

King is creepy. Have you read his Richard Bachman books? I read Desparation and The Regulators years ago.

Which is why I do NOT read his stuff any more. He’s too good at what he writes, and I do NOT want that kind of stuff cluttering up my poor overstuffed brain. It’s bad enough as it is. Same reason I no longer read Dean Koontz. When he wrote SF, I was good. Now he seems to write nothing but horror, and I don’t need it.
If they wrote cookbooks, or programmers handbooks, or mysteries, or westerns, or fantasy or SF, anything but horror, I’d probably be collecting their stuff.
