Let me ask the obvious question: do you really believe that it is a good idea for Paladino to give the media all the fodder it needs to shift this race from issues of substance to the personal lives of the candidates?

If so, explain why it is a good idea.

The only way a conservative can defeat a media backed Liberal elite is to run an atypical campaign. The media wouldn't even cover them or.. they would do their utmost to destroy the conservative.

Your governor might not be as much of a type A personality as Paladino but he had to run against the media destruction machine.

Cuomo has been avoiding even a debate (as did Lazio)... now I don't think he can... Paladino is surging all the way to Nov. 2nd and a shocking victory....

That's precisely the issue - he is in the spotlight, but can he reverse the media framing?

We tend to give campaigns more credit than they deserve for gamesmanship. Rove and Schwartz were at certain times considered to be geniuses here. Those assessments have been radically revised.

I see this outburst as provocative, but potentially very counterproductive.
