Dear wideawake,

“Of course, at that point quite a few people had known this to be the case for months, and he had no ability to deny it so he wisely went public preemptively.”

Actually, most of the folks in his circle had known about the affair and the child for a long time before he told his wife. It was, as they say, an “open secret.” Sadly, the wife was literally the last to know. That he didn't do much to hide it, and then confessed it spontaneously, suggests to me that the affair was not long-lasting, and that for a long time, he wanted to confess to his wife, but couldn't bring himself to do it.

The trauma of their son's death probably brought him to a point of despair where he figured, “Hey, what have I got to lose? I want to confess, I might as well do it. My life isn't going to get much worse than this.”

Thus, the final part of this sentence, “...and he had no ability to deny it so he wisely went public preemptively...” sounds kind of cynical. Very ugly. Disappointing.

You call Mr. Palladino a dirtbag. He certainly was acting “dirtbaggish” while carrying on with the other woman. Is he still a dirtbag? As of today? As of right now?

For the repentant sinner who gives every evidence of trying to avoid further sin and make amends, is there no redemption? I thought you were Catholic?

“Though he also did say that the affair was brief.”

If folks think it's on going, then go all Gary Hart on Mr. Palladino. I don't see how this is at all relevant to the peeping tom act of the sex pervert reporter aiming his lens (and who knows what else) into a 10 year-old girl's bedroom window.

“If a photographer did what was described, there definitely should be a criminal complaint sworn out and arrests made.”

Including of the pervert editor who gave out the assignment.

As well, you should explicitly withdraw the equivalence you make between Mr. Edwards and Mr. Palladino, and their respective circumstances.

That's precisely the issue - he is in the spotlight, but can he reverse the media framing?

Jeeze.. do I have too say it all over again?

Who CARES how the media frames it... they don't matter anymore. The polls have shown they don't trust the media... NOW Carl's MESSAGE WILL BE HEARD!...

Is that so difficult to comprehend?

Respond with all the tripe you have... I'm finished wasting my time with you..!

Again, I hope you're right.

We'll see if his accusation against Cuomo is susbstantiated, as he claimed.

For the repentant sinner who gives every evidence of trying to avoid further sin and make amends, is there no redemption? I thought you were Catholic?

I try to be.

Again, accusing someone else and then saying "I'll prove it later" is pretty unappetizing.

And, as per your suggestion, I withdraw my equation of Edwards' and Paladino's affairs.

Despite the many parallelisms they are, as you demonstrated, not equivalent.

Dear wideawake,

Although I, too, am from New York, my family moved when I was young. Thus, I don't follow New York politics closely.

Nonetheless, my own memory is that regarding the Cuomo divorce, there were charges of infidelity and then counter-charges. Thus, when I heard Mr. Palladino’s statement, I didn't think it was particularly controversial (except, of course, with that part of the Ruling Elite that still insists that Mr. Clinton didn't have sex with that woman, and any other lie they need to tell on behalf of their political puppets).

Thus, I'm not sure that Mr. Palladino owes anyone an explanation or any proof. As it's a charge that's been made before in the public arena, to my mind, it's more up to Mr. Cuomo to prove it false. Just asserting that it's false, especially coming from the hellmouth of a prominent member of the POS (Party of Satan), isn't quite convincing.

Mr. Palladino is clearly not a professional politician, and I'm not sure that everything he says to the press is all that well-calculated. I think that's part of his charm.

I suspect that he was repeating what “everyone knows” about Mr. Cuomo, and was likely taken aback by the challenge, and thus ad libbed that he would “prove it later.” That hardly makes him a dirtbag. By any stretch of the imagination.

Mr. Palladino is what he is: a hard-charging, successful, driven New York businessman. Folks like this are often brutally blunt, forceful, even crude. You should know that.

These may (or may not) be flaws for someone entering the political arena. Or maybe, in any other time but the present, these might be flaws, but in the current time, they are valued by the voting public. I think that many voters are looking for citizen-servants, folks who run for office who haven't made a career of holding office. And I think that folks will put up with a lot of blunders, goofs, feet-in-mouths, etc. from men and women who ARE NOT POLITICIANS who fearlessly stand up to represent us.

Knowing that his good name would be dragged through the mud by folks calling him “dirtbag” because of the mistakes he made a decade ago, Mr. Palladino was pretty damned courageous to stand up and be counted this year. Knowing that the POS would try to rip the flesh off his bones, and that he did, indeed, have peccadilloes on which to pounce, Mr. Palladino’s willingness to serve anyway makes me think that he's an all right guy.

Not a "dirtbag."

I'd take him over Mr. Cuomo - or any of his ankle-biting critics who want to label him a “dirtbag” - every day of the week.

I read a srory a while back of some father taking a picture of his child on a slide at a playground.
He got in trouble because there were also other children in the picture.
He was accused of being a kiddie porn pervert.

But it’s OK for the Post to sneak up to a childs window to photograph him/her.

OK then.....

Fred Dicker wants to be the next Alan Chartock, who in exchange for access threw softballs to Mario Cuomo back in the day.

If you listen to Fred Dicker’s local radio show, you would already have a context for the relationship between “Fredrick” Dicker and Andrew Cuomo who has been a guest.

You may well question Paladino’s tact and the wisdom of the engagement, but Paladino lays Fred Dicker bare.

Fred Dicker made himself a tabloid caricature -it‘s entirely fitting.

You need to watch the entire video! Which puts Fred Dicker in his context:

Dear wideawake,

I just watched the video with Mr. Dick... er nearly physically assaulting Mr. Palladino.

There really is no case to be made on behalf of this lying, verminous, Cuomo filth.

Mr. Palladino is definitely not a dirtbag.

But dick... er is.

As is his master, Cuomo.

Success would result from running well-vetted candidates who are capable of staying on-message

Whose message? Ah, you mean candidates like those who helped get us in this mess in the first place.

Some winnable races will be lost this November because of sloppiness.

Apparently, the voting public likes what they hear from this candidate. Perhaps the GOP would do better to back the winner instead of whining about potentially losing the race.

I wish they would ban him as a troll

If he is a conservative he is doing NO GOOD here

I don't. As long as it doesn't get personal, I enjoy a healthy debate. It sharpens the wit and either forces me to discard wrong notions or it reinforces them.

More optimistic than me? Have you been reading my posts??

I've said this is great for Padadino... The leftwing media would haev ignored him and let him lose in obscurity... Now they CAN'T.

Paladino is going to win!

Please contact me if you’re interested in being added on or taken off the Carl Paladino for Governor ping list. This looks to be a fairly high volume ping list for a while, probably until the election.
