Do you realize that if the anti-Catholics are correct, Christianity DID NOT EXIST for all intents and purposes prior to the 16th century?

The nutjobs have already covered that base. Christianity was underground, driven there by the diabolical Catholic Church. It was not able to get aboveground because satan was vigilent until the early 1500s, when he started chasing virgins or white whales or something and took his eyes off the true Christians (tm). Then, and only then, did Martin Luther and John Calvin (never Zwingli - he was that disturbed uncle that you never talked about at family gatherings) ride in on chariots from Heaven (since God was afraid of satan until the 1500s) and bring Christianity into the light of day.

Or some such...

We would have to accept that what the Western world THOUGHT was Christianity was wrong for fifteen hundred years. This would make the Apostles among history's greatest failures.

We have been instructed by the finest of Reformed apologists that all of the Apostles and even Jesus are irrelevant. The only thing we need to know about Christianity are carefully excised snippets of Paul and Isaiah. As delivered to us by Calvin and the Westminster Confession of Faith.

I have been definitively told by a FReeper that the Gospels WERE NOT WRITTEN TO CHRISTIANS, that they were written for Jews ONLY.

There are some Reformed churches that go a month or longer with a SINGLE VERSE of the Gospels being read in their Sunday service.

It seems as though some of that water from the Tiber has gotten in your ears. Calling me a nutjob (not altogether incorrect) seems to be exactly what Jesus was referring to in that RCC favorite, the Sermon on the Mount. Didn't that just qualify you for the "hell of fire"? (Matt. 5:22) And here I thought you actually believed this stuff.
