Actually, I have worked in the public school system and in colleges for most of my public career. I have counseled numerous students. I am very familiar with their lifestyles and antics while involved in University life.
What is...is. And, a large number of students wash out way before they complete their third semester. It is usually due to antics and lifestyles that are inconsistent with success in College or University.
A lot of these students aren’t ready for a serious go at University life and many think they are free from parents and guardians and can live any way they want without suffering any consequences to their actions.
Sounds like this student was very talented and had been given plenty of opportunity for success. It is too bad that he wasn’t more mature and prepared to live as an adult.
How does any of that explain your view that an agreement between roommates is a “naive expectation at best?” Isn’t that what you said?
