I wonder, if this had never been reported to the police, if the roommate would have committed suicide. After all, the story was national news well before the suicide and was already the subject of more than one FR thread.

If Ravi had simply barged in his roommate with Wei and their friends in tow and shouted Party Time! ... Hey, who's this?, the kid would have been just as outed, but no crime would have been committed. But, because cameras and the internet were involved, it became a big deal.
